Sid: Gary Patterson was intereted in U job, after Brew accepted it

Glad that Sid picked up on this...three or four years after it was posted on the Hole.

Yeah, just like Mason was offered the Georgia, LSU, and MSU jobs and John Wooden would've coached here if it weren't for a snowstorm.

It's fun to play the hindsight game....

The John Wooden story is in John Wooden's book. He would have been the HC in Minnesota if not for a huge storm.

Actually, Mason was the Georgia coach.

Nice job, dumbass.

If Brewster had already accepted it, then there wasn't ever a time where the gophers had an opening and gary patterson had interest.

If this is true Patterson was one less coach who was available to Maturi during the two weeks he was given to hire a new coach after Bruininks fired Mason.

It is easy claim a guy had interest after the fact. Yea, maybe he talked to Maturi to find things out about the job. Maturi talked to Brady Hoke a bunch this time, does that mean Brady Hoke had interest? Just because a coach had "interest" doesn't mean that the gophers could have hired the guy.

I think this is even more true in a situation where there was no "interest" expressed until after there was no job available.

Sid's definition of interest could mean that Patterson called to say he would be willing to listen if the negotiations started at 2.5 million a year. No one will ever know. It is ridiculous to speculate about and it is even more ridiculous that whoever writes Sid's column is putting rumors from 4 years ago that have no detail or specifics to back up into print. What is in Sid's column has essentially the same credibility as most of the tweets we were seeing one month ago.

It's stories like this one that make me wonder if Sid worked for the Lindberghs as a baby-sitter.

I guess i thought this rumor/story was common knowledge.....I dont think Sid is making stuff up.

Yes, it was common knowledge at some point after it happened. The strong rumor is that Patterson declined the job offer/interview, but the day after Maturi hired Brewster, he called back and said he changed his mind and would like to be considered for the job. Maturi replied that he had already hired Brewster.

Sid isn't making something up. But he is running a news story that happened 4 years ago that didnt matter then and doesnt matter now.

*yawn*

Let me know when Sid breaks a news story that happened within the last six months.
