SI NFL Mock 3.0 - Maxx to Houston at #16

Interesting. They've got Funchess at WR.

Well, technically he rarely lined up on the LOS with his hand in the dirt like a more traditional TE. I even believe that Michigan updated their game program to reflect that Funchess was now a WR instead of a TE. I know when they mentioned him when we were playing Michigan back in early October, on the bottom where it would show stats or anything like that, it listed him as WR.

EDIT: I have put a link below to Michigan's official roster which lists Funchess as a WR.

GB needs him, their TEs are the weak link in their passing game.

It would really suck if I couldn't cheer for Maxx.

I agree. but after thinking about it.... might be a really good fit for Maxx so it would be hard to be too disappointed. He could really put up some fun numbers with a QB like rodgers throwing to him which in turn would make the U look good I guess.... But man it would suck watching him catch TDs against the vikes.

Just a bump based on what I'm reading online. Seems like Maxx is being projected all over the board from mid 1st to mid 2nd. Walterfootball now has him going to Jax in the early 2nd. Drafttek at 47 to Miami. Both have him coming off after Funchess which is intriguing. Cobb is going in the 4th to Pitt via Drafttek as well. CBS has Maxx as the #36 overall player and best TE. DC is the #11 RB and 110 player.

This is interesting. Since ive heard Aaron Rodgers say at least 20 times that there 3rd round pick last yr Richard Rodgers at 6'4 260 has the best hands on the team.

Maxx to the Colts in the 1st round would be interesting...

Todd McShay's latest mock draft (Insider): http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/mock/?season=2015&version=2&source=Todd-McShay-Mock-Draft

30) - Maxx Williams - Green Bay Packers (12-4)
COLLEGE: Minnesota
Class: Soph
HT: 6-4
WT: 250
POS: TE
Analysis: The Packers need youth and athleticism at inside linebacker, so Mississippi State's Benardrick McKinney is a possibility. But the team could also afford an upgrade at tight end, and Williams is the most complete TE in what is shaping up to be a very shallow class. He has a very good combination of size (6-4, 250 pounds) and speed, and it's expected that he'll test really well at the combine later this month. He'd provide Aaron Rodgers with another weapon in the passing game, which could become increasingly important if Randall Cobb leaves in free agency.

22 (PITTSBURGH)

MAXX WILLIAMS, TE

RS Sophomore, Minnesota
A bit off-board with this one, but Heath Miller can't play forever. The Steelers keep phasing out their old guard for new blood, and this would set the next wheels in motion. Williams does it all at tight end. He and Miller together would be a dream for Ben Roethlisberger and a headache for any opposing defenses.

16. Maxx Williams, TE
RS Sophomore, Minnesota

The Texans' leading producer at tight end in 2014: Garrett Graham, at 18 catches for 197 yards. Williams could roll past those numbers by Week 3 if he's utilized properly. There is no question Williams is the best tight end available this year -- a steady blocker capable of eating defenses alive with his downfield skill.

Lol...with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing to him? That's precious. Maxx can be a beast if he has a good-to-great QB. He deserves that. It ain't happening in Houston, at least in the short-term, but maybe JJ Watt will convert to quarterback.
