Should the TCU game be a gold out?

Then you have the weather or should I say the temperature situation. While I have gold shirts I don't have gold jackets etc. I agree also that it won't work with our fan base. Look at the Wild, multiple color uniforms in the stands.

How cold do you think its going to be?

Gold Will work for about 80% of the fans and it will still look better than most games

I remember a couple years ago there was a attempt to wear gold and some stubborn guys in front of me were talking about it as a dumb ploy. that the team shouldn't need the fans to help fire them up

I can only hope that the ticket increase has booted these types of fans out.

those who do not understand the color of a college football game. i would prefer all games being one color or another. most good teams can get their fans to follow simple rules like wear a certain color?

if they can figure that out in places like Nebraska or Buckywille we should be able to

We got plenty of people to wear black to the OSU basketball game and I would think it would be much easier to market a gold out than a black out....

1. Even though blurry, I would guess that is the student section in the background. I base that mostly on the fact they are all standing, which we all know most Gopher fans hate .

2. The total attendance, even at capacity at the barn, is probably a little over 1/5th (maybe 1/4th) of a sold-out football game.

So, it is probably a little easier to gain participation with a smaller number of fans.

I would still think the same percentage would translate over, don't you?

This is a better one particularly in the upper section (wasn't able to embed for some reason)

If you're going to do it, early in the season is the time since more people probably have gold t-shirts as opposed to sweatshirts and jackets.

Even though I mostly own maroon gear I'd prefer the university make/market more gold gear.

The gold looks better in person and on tv than maroon.

Just have Target or some other big corp sponsor 50k tshirts/towels and put one on every seat. It's not hard/expensive for a corporate sponsor to pony up especially when you know the opponent, time etc 4 months out.

Advertise a color coordinated effort and if it doesn't work.....who cares? Think that anyone outside of the gopherhole is going to even mention it?

However....if it were advertised months ahead of time and clearly labeled on the tickets.....you might get a decent turn out. Offer inexpensive/free gold shirts at the game and it may even be successful.

As others have said.....however.....gold isn't exactly the most common apparel color. Sure....I have a few gold t-shirts....but sweatshirts and jackets? Nope. Used to have a nice zip-up sweatshirt but I grew out of it.

Please do not encourage the black out phenomenon, be proud of your school colors.

Understandable, yes, but I'm only suggesting the TCU game, which given that it will be an August night, should still be pretty warm temperature wise. Definitely T-Shirt wether for most if not all. I am also hoping to get athletics on board with this idea, so that it is advertised 4 months in advanced and on the tickets.

#1 Goal should be to sell the dang game out....THEN let's worry about the colors. NO empty seats, please!

gold towels given out would help the cause as much as giving out tshirts at the game. the gals will not put on a tshirt just given to them. sizes are a problem (outside of students)

but a towel lives on and i would imagine that with all the corp. sponsors lining up to jump on the bandwagon we could get one of them to pony up a little extra and flip for the towels

Idk, I recall the blackout at the Barn this season against Ohio State going pretty well, and I don't think they gave out free shirts for it, granted basketball is a smaller crowd.

Smaller crowd, indoors, and would bet most people own a black shirt. Not sure you can say the same about Gold. Then you add in a lot more fans and the elements. I will admit it isn't easy to organize this kind of stuff for football but if you have a fanbase that is motivated to do things like this it can be done. All evidence I have seen however points to us just not having that type of fanbase for football.

A grass roots effort is probably our best way to get a near gold out. Yeah, it would be nice if someone donated a bunch of t-shirts but don't count on it. Until that happens, do your part by encouraging those you know to wear gold and if they give you some nonsense about not owning a yellow t-shirt, buy, borrow or steal one for them.

Given Kill's battle with Epilepsy, not sure a bobble-head would be sensitive or appropriate, but I do think an advertising campaign and an incentive (giveaway) to everyone wearing gold could make this a (mostly) effective reality. Maybe sponsored by one of the "big donors" that Teague hints he has in his back pocket.

Just don't put magazines on the seat backs like they did at the USC game a few years ago. It was snowing magazines in the student section all game long!

Print GOLD OUT on the stupid tickets and put that crap in the paper and have all the columnists push it. Tickets thing and columnist thing is easy. The rest doesn't have to be super expensive. We are so lame in this market it is ridiculous. We have school pride, but only if we agree with the color scheme. If not, screw-u-mah

Also, I would like to see a gold t-shirt with a goldy smashing frogger. I would buy that.

I think one of the games last year had Gold Out printed on the tix. Still did not work. Maybe it was 2 years ago.

I enjoy gold outs, but they never work. Plus all my jerseys are Maroon. :)

I have been offline for a couple days and can't even believe we are discussing this. Each and every Gold Out has failed. They always will. Move on, nothing to see here.

Towels would be cool. Really cheap and easy.

Big early season game with major exposure - we should tell them who we are with, "dress your seat color!"
