Wonder how many years it took Shooter to realize this tid-bit:

While the Gophers open their 2022 football season against New Mexico State in Minneapolis in a 50,805-seat stadium on Sept. 1, Ohio State opens its season against Notre Dame in Columbus in a 104,944 stadium.

Go Gophers!!

Apparently for some reason he thought he could be negative, rile up the board and post something stupid like this.

Shooter - writing a lot of nonsense lately Lazy journalism. We all know the seating capacity of the stadiums.
Lately? Has there been a time when Shooter didn't write nonsense? His column is a complete waste of time and has been for as long as I can remember.

Took him a long time to count the seats.

Did he personally had count those seats to make certain to a fact it’s those numbers,

next week's tidbit:

While the Gophers open their 2022 football season against New Mexico State in Minneapolis in the Central Time Zone Sept. 1, Ohio State opens its season against Notre Dame in Columbus in the Eastern Time Zone.

He could make a whole season of material with this stuff.

"In Week 2, it is reported that the Gophers will face Western Illinois at home, while the Buckeyes play Arkansas State in Columbus. It is speculated that both teams will be favored and the stadium capacities will remain unchanged from week 1."

"Little Birdie reports sun rises in east this morning, with predictions of setting in the west this evening. Stay tuned for updates"

Is there something new about the relative stadium capacities? Has something changed since the Gophers new stadium opened? Is there any aspect of this observation that counts as “news”? What am I missing? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Shooter has always been obsessed with seats and ticket sales. Someone should tell him that no one else does.

Just Shooter being Shooter.....apparently his little birdies couldn't come up with anything else so he went with the ground breaking news that OSU's stadium is bigger than ours. Bet their fan base is more passionate and they probably get better recruits too.

Had to fill column space. Could not think of anything else to say.

Yeah, not really sure what the point of that tidbit was. Like, yeah? There are a few huge stadiums in the Big Ten and the new Brickhouse isn't one of them.

But, it's still a great venue. I've read comments from visitors who've said it's a fantastic facility.

Also, Minnesota's not alone in being a Power 5 program with stadiums in the 50K range. Arizona State has 56,000 and Oregon can hold 54,000. Look at Minnesota Vs. Penn State in 2019 or Syracuse in 2012. The stadium can have an awesome atmosphere and considering what the Ducks have done in the last two decades, the same is true for Oregon.

No, it's not 100K+ in the stands, but it doesn't even have to be. Nebraska and Oklahoma don't have stadiums with the same capacity as Ohio State, why doesn't Shooter write that?

You really could have stopped after your first line. This is Shooter, anyone spending time looking for useful info in his column....blurb....ramblings.....is wasting their time. And trying to make sense about why he would choose to go with a shocking nugget like this one is an even bigger exercise in futility.

I suppose one could argue that this represents the metaphorical separation between the two programs.

Hey - we know OSU is a great program - annually one of the best in the country. And the Gophers have not been at that level for 60 years.

But there are a lot of ways to express that separation, and seating capacity is certainly not the 'best' way to point that out.

Conference titles won - appearances in CFP playoff games - national rankings.

all are better indicators of the relative position of the two programs.

the number of seats in a stadium, not so much.

I totally admit this could be selective memory on my part and the only exposure I get to Shooter’s columns is what is linked or talked about here on Gopherhole.

That being said, I’m trying to recall any meaningful tidbit or insider GopherFootball nugget I have read from Shooter and I am coming up blank. As in, this shooter only shoots blanks. Honest question: has he ever written something about Gopher football that you didn’t already know? Any tidbits or speculation of his turn out to be true?
