Supremely pointless, irrational speculation. Why doesn’t he stick to pro rumors, like Arena Football quietly courting the Vikings. Big 12 equals no natural rivals and 70% revenue cut, “balanced off” by greater travel costs.

Not to mention tradition. We are one of the founding members of the Big Ten.

Not only did Walters report that the Big 12 is seeking the Gophers, he framed it as though the Gophers want to join the Big 12 but can't afford the revenue loss. It's like his brain walked out in the middle of its shift.

Insofar as I think about the possibility at all. The reason for a "change" has to be somewhat advantageous to you for you to contemplate making that change. I just keep asking myself "selfishly, what is in it for the Gophers? What?"

I was just in Manhattan KS for a wedding in March. Interesting little town. It is not Chicago, or D.C., or even LA!

Exactly. Every article I've read about this, national and local, states that this was first reported by Charley Walters and/or the Pioneer Press. I know these guys have reasons for not identifying their sources, but I think Shooter needs to explain himself a little more on this one. Nothing there seems credible.

Beauty of having a gossip column like his is that he can just toss stuff out there and it really doesn't matter if it sticks or not because nobody is paying attention for more than a day or so anyway.

Kind of like a weather man....he can be wrong all the time and stay employed
