Per Shooter:

The Big 12 Conference is said to be quietly seeking the Gophers, but Minnesota can’t afford the revenue loss of a new Big Ten Network deal, which, with the expansion of USC and UCLA in two years, could be worth nearly $100 million a year.

Go Gophers!!
Per Shooter:

eker0016 is said to be quietly seeking Gisele Bundchen, but Gisele Bundchen can’t afford the revenue loss of Tom Brady, who, with his Tampa Bay contract and advertising contracts, could be worth nearly $100 million a year.

eker0016 has a better chance of landing Gisele than the Big 12 does getting the Gophers to bail on the B1G...

Go Gophers!!
Shooter's Little Birdie got into the vodka again....

Ahhh Shooter.....he tries so hard....you would think that after failing over and over and over and over and over that he would give up but he keeps on going out there and trying. That kind of dedication has to be admired....I mean to be so bad at your job but to still put yourself out there day after day...... :)

I'm sure the Big 12 is seeking teams, because you know they don't want to fold......but like most of Shooter's nuggets it is just a stupid comment because there is no way the U would even consider leaving the Big Ten with all the money coming in from the conference to go to a failing conference that is just trying to stay above water as it loses its best teams.

What could the Big 12 offer the U that the B1G doesn't already give them?
A realistic chance at a conference title in football? The opportunity to find a new hockey conference? I think that’s about it.

In the same article that he mentions the stadium capacity compared to OSU. This guy is playing for the participation medal.

Go Gophers!!
Clickbait. Shooter is doing what he’s paid to do.

Supremely pointless, irrational speculation. Why doesn’t he stick to pro rumors, like Arena Football quietly courting the Vikings. Big 12 equals no natural rivals and 70% revenue cut, “balanced off” by greater travel costs.🤯

Go Gophers!!
“Quietly,” meaning “not at all”.

The only theory here would be that they think the Big Ten would resort to dropping programs to become a true football-first superconference. One in which everyone gets to stay a 10 win team forever! /s

If this ever happened (unlikely) Minnesota's pretty far down the list of programs who would be dropped, as we've gone over in other threads. Half the conference or more would be on the chopping block in that scenario, and it might look more like a couple big shots leaving at that point.

Otherwise the Gophers leaving voluntarily for the Big 12 or any other conference is a non-starter.

Said it before, for one team to win, another needs to lose. Zero sum game.

Shooter also reports we would have the biggest arena in the league.
