Shooter: "Rumor that won't die, Seantrel may transfer to Minn due to family reasons"

He can not enter the NFL draft for 2 more years, so he would have to stay in miami for 2 more years, not one.

The one year thing comes from the idea that he would come here and have to sit out a season (transfer) and then play one season here and go to the NFL (in this completely hypothetical scenario).

He would have to prove himself to Coach Kill like everyone else. He wont get any special treatment.

From Sid's Sunday column:

"J.D. Pride -- the former Gophers football star, whose son, J.D., has been moved from quarterback to receiver with the Gophers this spring -- is close to Seantrel Henderson, who played with his son at Cretin-Derham Hall. Pride Sr. reports Henderson is unhappy because he is running with the second team at the University of Miami, and this might result in Henderson transferring."

So if he transfers here and isn't immediately anointed the starting LT by Kill, is he going to complain to some other city's media about not being a starter and start rumors about another transfer?

I seriously doubt that Kill would say anything other than something along the lines of "you'll be more than welcomed to come to Minnesota and earn a spot on our team by proving you're a capable student, an honest member of the school community and an enthusiastic teammate and back-up to our starting O linemen".

I doubt he's going to be given anything just because some service gave him 5 stars or top 150 or whatever arbitrary, meaningless criteria is out there.

I agree about Kill's response. That being said, it is no longer about recruiting stars when a kid starts 9 games at tackle for Miami as a true freshman. The fact that the kid is a stud should not be debated.

It still shouldn't matter. He should still have to earn the starting spot away from the guy that's been a scholarship Gopher from the start. If he's better, then he's better and he'll play.

Wow...

The kid was a first team freshman all american by pretty much every single publication at a position that is often one of the most difficult to excel at as a true freshman. He graded out at over 90% on the season and was one of the best players on the Hurricanes last season.

I don't think anyone expects him to be given anything, but to act like he is considered a top prospect merely because of rivals is completely missing the boat. Again, you are letting your blind disdain for rivals cloud your impair your common sense.

I think everyone agrees that Henderson would have to show up and earn a spot. It'd be a similar situation Beal who is still fighting with Tinsley and to a lesser extent Grant to be our starting MLB. That said, I think most of us would be shocked if Henderson wasn't one of our best 5 OL (you could probably move Gjere inside). But yeah, that's pure speculation, and he'd still have to actually beat those guys out.

while i would gladly accept him on this team, we have a ton of young tallent on our OL. im not concerned if he comes or not...

If he transfers here, there will be a gnawing of jaws and a mashing of teeth.

If he does not transfer here, there will be a gnawing of jaws and a mashing of teeth.

What do I do? hmmmmmmm :banghead:
