Shooter: "Rumor that won't die, Seantrel may transfer to Minn due to family reasons"

"Rumor that won't die: Former Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson, who played his first season with the Miami Hurricanes last fall, considering a transfer to the Gophers for family reasons."

Go Gophers!!

I wonder if the same rumor indicates he'll graduate with a 4 year degree...

I'm extremely skeptical of any of these reports, as we hear them all the time and most don't happen. We can just play wait and see and if it happens, we can discuss then.

In that context (very short, but includes the word 'rumor' with no other explanations or sourcing), and from that source, this basically means he read the rumor on GopherHole and wanted to print it. There's literally no information there, and the writer obviously has no knowledge of the situation beyond what we already know.

Even if this rumor is true, I'm not excited about it. In fact, I hope it's false, because I think he's more trouble than he's worth.

It's about as likely as the next rumor posted about the gray-bearded wonder playing for the Bills.

If it was Brew, I would be okay with passing on him but Kill should take him in a heartbeat in my opinion...if this crazy rumor has any legs at all. It sounds like SH wanted to come here all along but his handlers wanted otherwise. I think the kid gets a bad rap because of others and from all accounts is a relatively quiet good kid that just happens to be blessed with size and athleticism.

+1

I am personally fine with the future of the tackles we have, and Seantrel should watch the offense doing up/downs before he decides he wants to do that. I thought Sean ferguson would collapse yesterday on the last 5 reps.

Why would we want him? Ah, I would guess because are offensive line has been pathetic for about about 4 years. He is the former 1 ranked recruit in the nation and has NFL talent. People keep saying he is more trouble than he is worth, unless you know something I don't please enlighten me. I have not heard him get in any trouble.

I doubt that.

Coach Kill is in control of the ship. If SH shows an interest in being a Gopher he isn't an automatic. Coach Kill will make the final determination based upon his criteria which SH has to meet.

If it's true, and Kill thinks it's the right move, I'd take him in a cocaine heartbeat.

They don't. If SH wanted to come here, we would absolutely welcome him with open arms. He is an elite talent and really not considered a bad kid. It's like the comparisons between him and WLA, both nonsense.

Anyone have any insight as to what type of "family issues" that he is dealing with? I'm wondering if they are of the variety that would allow him to play here without sitting out a year.

I agree with Bayfield on this one. SH knows what he would be getting with Coach Kill. If he is interested and Coach Kill and his staff want him - come aboard big fella.

The statement/comment/rumor on a previous thread was that his girlfriend was having a baby. That is all I have heard.

First-I will believe it when I see it!

Second- Who Cares if he only plays one year for us? We have not had a legit first round talent here in a LONG TIME. We have not had a Monster on the OL for a good number of years (Essling no monster-just damn good)

In building a proper program, you should expect one or two years of solid play form an OL recruit. If this is not the case the talent pool is thin (as in years past) and you are starting frosh or sophs, and we know how well that works out. IF SH comes to the Gophs, one and done is just fine with me.

O-lines are as much about team work as individual talent, good lines are built over time, not just assembled from an all-star cast, so personally I am fine without him. further, if he is going to play one more year, coming home and sitting out a year would be nuts. Finally, this is coming from Shooter which means it has less probability of happening than if a random poster on here says it.

Do people seriously not want this guy or are they building a self-defense mechanism, pretending that we never wanted him anyway since the odds are against it happening? If Seantrel wants to come play at the U (the real U) you take him, no ifs ands or buts. He is an elite, top shelf talent and isn't anything close to the the prima donna that everyone is making him out to be. Its a no brainer.

He's invisible to me unless he comes here to play. Then he becomes a favorite.

The Emperor's New Cloth

I think you have finally summed up what wrong this string perfectly. Why so many people have devoted time talking about the emperor's new clothes is beyond me.

Pretty much nailed it on the head there.

I thought we'd cooled on him ... ?

Personally, I'd love to have him. Would be a great player for the Gophers and would also help boost recruiting if he can do well here and go to the NFL.

He can not enter the NFL draft for 2 more years, so he would have to stay in miami for 2 more years, not one.

The only way you turn away elite talent is if you truly believe they have too much baggage or bring enough drama that it will hurt the team. SH doesn't fit either of those molds. Also it matters not if he plays one year or 3 more. If he came this year he'd still be practicing with the team and I certainly don't see how having an NFL OT working with the practice squad isn't going to be beneficial to your team. Would some of you really rather have some 260lb freshman walk on giving our 1st team D a look than a potential 1st rounder? Of course not. And yes OL's are built over time but you need talent. We had plenty of experience on the line last year and still sucked.

I don't know where all these "character flaws" are coming up. If the past #1 recruit in the country wants to come home and play for his hometown team, SIGN HIM UP. Also, Coach Kill won't let Seany boy be a problem so this would be a no brainer.
