I must've read it wrong. Thought the team was splitting $500K. It's gotten out of hand if that's not true.

If that is true I don't want to here any comments again about these are women student athletes trying hard and we should not criticize them. With that kind of money going to them they should be able to deal with all the criticism that comes their way. They earned it. It comes with the territory.

I wounder if money was an issue with Heyer sudden departure. With more money comes the issues of who is getting payed how much and why them and not me. Not saying that it had anything to do with it but the timing on her departure brings up these kind of questions. Plus the fact she found a team so quickly and one with money.

Even though that's an astounding amount of money, this is what it's going to take for this program to be able to compete with the other established teams. I'm glad we're starting to get some investment. Should make it a bit easier to recruit bigger talent in the coming years!

My first question is, if true, where did they get the money? DTA or B1G revenue sharing?

Rev Share helped for sure; but, I also have questions. However, I am learning to keep my mouth shut when I don't have nothing nice to say lol

...and why aren't members of the volleyball team, which is significantly better every year and attracts more fans, getting similar, or better, money?
Do you have any proof that they aren’t? NIL money is like ghost money. Unless you actually see some sort of signed deal, how would you know what anyone is getting?

I don't "know" but those are not the numbers I've heard. We also don't know the Pioneer Press is right.

Crazy. Coyle said Basketball, hockey, volleyball would split about 2M after adding some scholarships. I would think it would be more around 500K split between the entire team, believe Braun has mentioned this before about sharing through the team.

Lot of people entertained through college sports with a lot of $ being made through TV, etc.

Would also think it some of the NIL would be valued at more over 4 years and include the scholarships which are big chunk?

Some probably are signed with local companies(banks, etc) as you see ads, which if a local company can benefit from the NIL and the player can help them...so it is.

Also Dinkytown Athletes, sure they make some of the products(jerseys, shirts) of their names now and sales from Duck Duck Beer, etc. Was able to make it to a couple games over last few years here and inside arena you can't get a Jersey or t-shirt of a player now as you have to order it customized. Before NIL many were out just for sale ready to go, which I think is dumb.

Anyone can make money through social media these days really, so if they can...so be it, but it also comes with more issues and things to know in my mind.

I am just waiting for the day sports start getting some older kids/ADULTS that didn't go to college before but now see 4 years of eligibility and try to go back for the NIL haha!

I could be wrong; but that 2M seems low. If the Rev Share is 21M (rounding up) and if 65% is going to football, wouldnt that mean there's around 7M for basketball, volleyball and hockey?

I thought it was noted Rev Share would be between 10-15% for basketball?

What’s the TV money compared between the two?

Does the B10 network assign It by sports?

A star Tribune article said the U would probably disperse the money the same as other power 5 schools, 75% of the football team, 15% to the men's basketball. And 10% between women's basketball, men's hockey and volleyball.

There is no chance this number is close to true. Mens basketball is getting significantly more, I know more revenue but the number Shooter is reporting is too high.

Agreed, Volleyball generates more revenue, ticket sales, concessions, all of it, and Coyle should be giving them more. In house attendance for WBB down this year including parking. Big 10 season should help.
