Sounds like a plan. Hope he enjoys a big increase in overall compensation.

Buyouts to fired Gophers football coaches Glen Mason and Tim Brewster, and fired men's basketball coach Dan Monson, plus a one-year extended compensation deal for departed Gophers athletics director Joel Maturi became sensitive public issues.

The university has become publicly sensitive about a buyout package for Smith.

Does this mean they're not commenting on buyout information?

Hopefully he'll adopt a more coherent/decisive approach to recruiting and upgrade some of his assistants. One can only dream....

The university has been extremely pleased with Teague since his arrival nearly two weeks ago.

The bar was set pretty low.

pay raise for his performance, seems like a bad idea. After next season the gophs will be fighting for NIT bids again. Tubby deserves a base closer to the bottom than the top of Big Ten coaches. Incentives yes pay raise no. THE SCOUT

Scout, you need to start back on the meds. You were all pro-Tubby 4 months ago

Some additional info coming from cnnsi.com's Fan Nation (whatever that is). Says extension doesn't include raises for assistant coaches. Tubby will negotiate those, then Teague will have to approve.

It's just a cut and paste from the PiPress.

No information on the termination clause - which is what really matters here. Wonder how far apart the two sides are now... not sure why Minnesota has continued to talk about the contract extension publicly as much as they have, because it really puts them in a bind (specifically with regard to their expectations that it'll get done soon...for the past couple of years... and continuing on with the new President and AD).

Tubby now can even change his story.. from "oh yeah, it's almost done... great, I expect it to be done within a couple of weeks"... to.. "contract? oh, who cares... I've still got two years left.. no big deal, whatever..."... puts him in a better negotiation spot for a big departing gift.

Hope a contract does get done mostly because I want to see the end result of the negotiations.
