Shooter Now: Gophers' Tubby Smith lauded by Grizzlies' Lionel Hollins

Austin to SG? What position did he play the past 2 years?
You could argue that in the 3 guard offense he was the SF. But that is moot. Either way with Trevor at 4 and EE or Mo at 5 with Rodney at 3, Austin does not need to do as much rebounding.

I thought both Austin and Rodney played much better at the end of the year, I wonder how much of that can be attributed to having a PG that creates and draws the defense's attention. The improvement was there and it was dramatic.

I also thought the offense shifted to something that was closer to a run and gun, it just seemed they were playing a more open offense. I'm hopefull that this style of play continues into next season.

I also think that Rodney transitioned into being a very physical player, I hope that continues and Austin starts showing signs of it, that is something they really need to compete with MSU, Purdue, OSU, and Wisconsin because of the way they play defense.

It's subtle, but not moot. We'll have a better rebounder at the 3, and a better defender, shooter, and ballhandler at the 2. Austin played well last year, I think he'll play better at the 2.

In a 3 guard offense there is no defined position for each guard. I think it is easier to argue that Joe Coleman was playing SF because of his lack of outside game than to argue Austin was the SF. That's why I'm saying it's moot.

Tubby doesn't develop players.

NBA coaches also don't know anything about coaching, and thus have no basis for complimenting the coaching of others.

NBA "coaching" is certainly a vastly different animal than collegiate coaching.
And rarely has much to do with "developing" players. But that is as much
on the players, as they typically resist being "developed", and are much more
likely to work on "develping" on their own in the off season when they
are enlightened enough to recognize the need.
