Per Shooter’s Little Birdie:

>> A little birdie says new Gophers men’s basketball coach Niko Medved called University of St. Thomas officials, offering to play the Tommies in the first game of their new arena this fall, but St. Thomas instead will be hosting Army. Previous Gophers coach Ben Johnson had declined to play the crosstown Division I team.

Go Gophers!!

😂.. Trash 🗑️… the Army home opener was a given the plan has been in place for sometime… Lee Anderson and family gave $75 million to UST.. Lee Anderson played at Army.. Lee Anderson gives Army millions.. in fact the Army head basketball coaching position is named after Lee.. The Lee Anderson Head Basketball Coach… The Army women’s team is also coming to play the same day…

The Gophers knew this..lots of people knew even though it hadn’t been announced… Why didn’t the Gophers ask to play at UST the second, 5th or 7th game of the year? OR have UST come play in the Gophers home opener?? 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️… IF the Gophers asked to play UST in their home opener the Gophers already knew what the answer was.. sad.. just like The Gophers knew what the answer would be before asking Florida to come here.. No just like UST.. shits hilarious..

But wait... Aren't the Gophers too chicken to try to get St. Thomas on their schedule? This doesn't fit the narrative I hear on GopherHole at all 🤔

Scared actually… OR maybe Florida and other top ten teams along with UST from the lowly Summit are actually afraid of the Gophers??? “Free Niko’s Hands”.. they were tied when it came to scheduling hopefully he can use them in practice…

Exhibition game come on Niko! Exhibition game you win see we would beat them .. lose it’s an exhibition game… 👎👎

Minnesota should be embarrassed how this came out. They knew st Thomas would not accept that offer. The guy who pays 100 mil or what ever they donated can get the honor of choosing the first opponent.

There is a reason gophers went to the press first with this story. They wanted it to be able to say they offered to play but at Thomas didn’t accept

Oh well. They offered. Check again in 10 years.
"They offered"...But not really. If they wanted to actually play UST I'm confident they could have found a date acceptable to both schools....just not to open the new arena. Seems like a pretty lame overture.

If they wanted to play the U so bad, they would have made it happen.

Geez, we should just add a Mankato board, UMD board, Bemidji St board, St. Cloud board to the GopherHole board. I mean, they are in the same state and play a Div 1 sport. This UST angst is beyond sickening.
You got a thread. Keep everything UST on it. Mods, please help.

It's kinda like...Hey, I'll give you $100 thousand for your house. But, I'm askin' $1.2?
Well, evidently you don't really wanna sell, I guess? I made you an offer and you didn't take it.

Good grief.

Nah. It's more like the girl you wanted to ask out for 5 years tells you they're free this weekend but you decide you're too busy.
