I read a long article about this case. it's not as cut-and-dried as it sounds. there is video showing the start of the alleged assault and it shows the security guard grabbing Sanders - but then the video cuts out. there is also some witness testimony that does not corroborate the guard's story.

The school’s principal, Ruda Nash, witnessed the ordeal and was one of several staff members who attempted to remove Darjean from Sanders, according to Sanders. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services received a written statement from Nash, who said Darjean held Sanders by the neck before throwing him to the ground. After they were eventually separated, Sanders dialed 911, according to Nash.

so the debt is all from the assault lawsuit. the security guard claims that Shilo Sanders is trying to hide his assets - from NIL payments - to avoid paying the settlement.

this has the smell of a guy looking for a payday. guy gets into a beef with Deion's kid and suddenly he has all these debilitating injuries - after a scuffle with a 15-year-old kid?

Curious, any bankruptcy lawyers here? Can a judgment incurred for malicious behavior be discharged in bankruptcy?

Luckily it ended "well" for young Mr. Sanders.
 

As trump says. I just follow the tax laws and if people don’t like it then change the laws.

The "ended well" statement was in regards to him being amongst the living. Other young men haven't been so lucky.

Well as much as it is fun to side with rich famous people, the court didn’t.

Here’s the video that was made public. Hard to say who destroyed the video of the public space where the brawl occurred but….only Deion has motive on both sides. Ironically if his employee assaulted a student he’d (or his school) likely be on the hook for any damages. Aren’t there medical records? Police record? Where is the missing security tape? Tape of someone removing the tape? Logins?

How did Shilo miss the trial? He wasn’t served notice?

Hard to say if this was a case of self-defense? Without knowing the character of the guard, or any of the above, who can say.

Judge issues ruling in bankruptcy case of Deion Sanders' son Shilo

A federal judge has issued a ruling in the bankruptcy case of Colorado football defensive back Shilo Sanders, denying Sanders’ attempt to dismiss a complaint from a former school security guard whom Sanders still owes $11 million.

The security guard, John Darjean, had filed a complaint against Sanders in January to prevent the bankruptcy court from discharging that $11 million debt. Sanders’ attorneys then asked the judge to dismiss that complaint, calling it an “overreaching intimidation tactic filled with meritless allegations.”

But Judge Michael Romero didn’t agree and has kept most of Darjean’s claims alive, including allegations by Darjean about the limited liability companies (LLCs) owned by Sanders for his name, image and likeness deals (NIL).

Four of those five official inquiries instead favored John Darjean, the school security guard who claimed he suffered permanent and severe spinal and nerve injuries after Shilo allegedly assaulted him in 2015, when Shilo was a 15-year-old ninth grader at FOCUS Academies in Dallas.

The other of those five investigations initially sided with Shilo but then obtained information that forced it to reverse its conclusion and instead ruled that fault was “unable to be determined.”
