so questioning if Carter's leaving was really all about his sister. isn't that what got many to rip on Vandelay who wondered the same thing?
also the tone of the article is negative towards the program so this Shama guy has no clue what he is talking about.
Huh. Interesting.
Where is everyone with their pitchforks calling Shama despicable? How about Phil Mackey? He said the same thing on the air the other day. Why don't you inundate their inboxes with hate emails telling them how wrong they are?
Carry on.

LMAO at that website.
What do you guys do, surf the net for anti-Gopher writings and then post them here? Was that page made on geocities?
Also Art, you seem like a miserable person. I wish you the best.

The whole vibe of the program feels like the power coach scenario. It's Tubby's world, and we just live in it. Just keep buying season tickets, build me a practice facility, and then leave us alone and don't ask a lot of questions. The overall picture borders on a lack of accountability.

I feel like these concerns dovetail with those expressed by Reusse in his 1500 column. I do take Pat with a grain of salt because I'm sick of hearing reporters whine about accessibility and friendliness of coaches and players. That said, I agree that this program doesn't feel like "our" program the way it has in the past, and a good deal of it is the way Smith buffers himself and the team from the community. Part of the fun of the 1989, 1990 and 1997 teams was the way the fan felt connected to them, and that starts with openness and accessibility. To Clem's credit, he sat there on the Sports Huddle every Sunday morning and didn't shy away from critical questions.

It gets ripped because there is absolutely no evidence of it. I could also say that Art Vandelay wishes he was born a woman. Is it possible, yep. But I have no evidence of it.

Bad, excellent post.
BTW, you may want to look behind you now and again as your post must really irritate some foks around here......

As a matter of fact, it even irritates ME. I really admire coach Smith, but like most of us he's not perfect. I do have a few issues with the way he operates.
My wife is the canary in the coal mine. She's not the least bit fired up about the program, and she used to go ape over the team. Some of that is probably her, but some of it is the vibe and energy that comes from the program, or lack thereof.

What are you talking about? Do you remember what Phil Mackey's headline was? Too lazy to look it up, but it was something along the lines of "Awkward win over Indiana proves gophers are not contenders". There are so many things wrong with that headline. First off, any decent basketball mind never thought the Gophers had a shot at 1st place. We were always 3rd place in the best case scenario. 2nd, how does barely beating a team PROVE that a team isn't a contender? You can look at literally almost every single good team and find games where they had "awkward" wins over crappy teams. That doesn't prove a team isn't a contender.
