The Gophers could build a nice non-con schedule without having to go very far.

That would be a pretty good schedule.
But, why would you do that? Sure, in the day and age when teams bussed to games, schedule them close. Nowadays, charter jet service has made it so teams can travel and be back the night of the game. Players are home and in bed by midnight after playing a game 1500 miles away. Branch out. Get to areas where you have players from or where you want to recruit. Playing multiple games in Wisconsin or Iowa or Nebraska or Illinois isn't attractive. Missouri would be good, St. Louis would be okay. But, get out to some major recruiting areas, bring in some bigger name teams. Do things like they are on the verge of doing and play Louisville on a military base. That's a good start and very encouraging for the future scheduling.
