Shama: Gophers finished 10th in Big Ten attendance this year

Seems to be cherry picking a year with Iowa having a strong uptick in attendance this year and Nebraska as well with the Huskers opening their new arena. I do think it's a concern long term if the Gophers can't find a way to obtain more revenue (ex charge more for the limited number of seats in the Barn) to make up for having one of the smaller arenas in the conference.

I am sick of Minnesota being so far behind in facilities, in money spent on revenue sports, and especially in the record on the court/field which has a lot to do with attendance issues. Norwood Teague has his hands full.

I don't think price of ticket being too low is an issue, and I do think the higher price helps in terms of revenue increases (assuming full attendance, which isn't clear at this point). For college bball, I believe the U has relatively expensive tickets, not? That's likely to play some part is attendance numbers, as it's beginning to get harder to justify take the family to many events like this, especially when you add in parking fees and concession prices on top of that.

It used to be that attending a college game was an affordable family alternative to the huge expense of a pro game. Now they're just both expensive.

23rd actually seems pretty impressive to me, especially when you consider that few of the teams ahead of us have an NBA team in the area.

Maryland is pretty similar to us.

Rutgers arena seats 8,000.

Why are we admitting Rutgers again?.......It's like Reusse said the other day. "No one in Manhattan gives a **** about Rutgers basketball and football."

I'd be willing to get our ranking would go up if % capacity was the measure, vs sheet numbers, which does not factor capacity.

TEAM HOME ATTENDANCE SHEER NUMBERS:
1) Ind 17,358
2) Wis 17,104
3) Osu 16,474
4) Neb 15,419
5) Ill 15,246
6) Iowa 14,976
7) Msu 14,797
8) Pur 12,738
9) Mich 12,698
10) Minn 12,329
11) NW 6,719
12) Psu 6,500

TEAM HOME ATTENDANCE BY % OF ARENA CAPACITY:

1) MSU 100.1%
2) Iowa 99.8%
3) Ind 99.34%
4) Wis 99.27%
5) Neb 96.3%
6) Mich 92.3%
7) Ill 91.7%
8) Pur 90.2%
9) OSU 88.5%
10) Minn 84.3%
11) NW 82.7%
12) PSU 42.5%

selling out.

As a gopher fan now living in Colorado, I know one huge difference is the price of a ticket. When I watched CSU (Ft. Collins) play ranked UNLV and N Mexico St we payed $14 for center line 20 rows up. When I watched Colorado (Boulder) play a very good Harvard team we were 35 rows up from the court on the side but the price was around $18 face value.

When I attended the barn last year when we came back and beat the Badgers I paid $50 for a bleacher nose bleed seat? It was worth every penny but $50 is quite rediculous for that kind of seat. I know it's supply and demand but it appears demand has waned a tad and the price could be too high. I also know that being in a major metro area the gophers can charge more, but double to triple doesnt seem reasonable to me.

Is this supposed symbolize NYC's support for The Scarlet Knights?

Is our pricing in line with the 25 other schools in the top 25?
