It's in the $30's but it's a very small section and they are all sold out.

Being a cellar dweller for decades and finally being competitive increases demand.

Plus...........VEGAS! If I was an ISU fan, I'd pay it. Besides, the tix will be the least expensive part of the trip.

Go to the theater, a museum? These are Iowans... they don't do those things.

The competition is Myspace, Facebook, and talking about how they're going to fix that broken down truck on their front lawn (well .. one of them).
 


What % of the seats are claimed by season ticket holders and what % of those are renewing?
I ask because the season ticket holders provide a financial base of a program with upfront $.
They also are an index of the most 'loyal' fans and in most cases are the oldest fans.
So in many schools the most dependable demographic may be shrinking.

My guess is the catch is there are a limited number of seats at each game, meaning that just buying the pass wouldn't guarantee admission to the more popular sports like football or basketball. Can probably get into all the olympic sports you want though.

As for the whole discussion about tickets.....it isn't just the cost of the tickets that is the issue, by the time you pay for parking, food, souvenirs......the entire gameday experience gets super expensive for families and for a lot of people the disposable income just isn't there to justify spending that kind of money on sporting events.

Definitely will be interesting to see how they counter it. The post on how the TV contracts might lead to a model of better pricing to get people in the stadiums is intriguing.

The home experience is better in many ways but to me the ability to do something else at home during the increasingly annoying media time outs is a plus.

I've tried muting on the national broadcasts and tuning in to the radio but never have been able to get them synced up that well.

Agree. I will always take being at the home game over TV if possible, including the TV timeout time. Use it as time to chat up who I'm with and the other fans around my seats.
 



Kids today would rather watch eSports vs. experiencing a real sports game in person.

Just ordered my three pack. Two packages available. Gold pack, Colorado State, Purdue, Minnesota. Black pack, Kent State, Penn State, Illinois. Used to get season tickets, but too many games to go to. Have been doing the three pack for several years. Seats are as good as my season tickets were. I opted for the gold pack because I want to see the Gophers lose again. Even though I was very impressed with them in 2019 and actually found myself cheering for them when they were not playing Iowa.

Smartest thing they could do is make football, basketball and hockey free too. But if you miss more than 2-3 games you lose your ticket.

100% at some point lower prices bring higher net revenue when you include parking and concessions and the value of tv dollars in games in stadiums that look full.

it’s hard to price, so most places profit maximize for the ticket sales themselves…but even that…

you make more money selling 40k 50 dollar tickets than you do selling 30k 65 dollar tickets dollar tickets just looking at ticket revenue alone

Yeah. I think Alabama did something where if you leave before halftime you lose access for the next game or something to.

Maximize butts in seats.

Not playing Iowa State this season, or just won't put that game into the mini-packs?

Would think they'd four game packs and put that game in both? Probably something I'm not thinking of as a downside to that, maybe loss of full season ticket sales.

They are playing ISU, but the game is in Ames, and when it is in Iowa City it is always part of the three pack. ISU will likely be in the top 5 at the time and at least top 10. Iowa will likely be top 20. It is an ABC national broadcast.

Doh. Of course, that makes sense. And yes, should be another great game, like last year. Hopefully sans the silly band controversy.

So which home game isn’t included in either three pack? I assume Iowa has seven home games like most P5.

Indiana. Odd schedule in that Indiana is the first game. Iowa State is the second. Tough start and the Hawks could easily be 0-2

But if they’re 2-0 they’re number 6-8 in the country. And I think they’re at least 1-1

Agree odd to have Big Ten games in week 1. As you know, Minnesota vs Ohio State.

Must have been a push by TV to get some major Big Ten action to counter some of the other big "opening weekend" hullabaloo games.
