Two very good hires. Shaka was smart with this choice, go to a school that's been successful but capable of more. Following a legend at a top 5 program is tough for anyone, this allows him the big money and the chance to make it his program.

Agreed. Most people don't get the part that following a coach who has maxed out (or close to maxed out) a school's potential is not a good spot to be in and you can never really impress the fan base. I also think it's interesting that Shaka said yes to Texas, but no to UCLA. I guess it's because VCU is a better job than UCLA... It will be interesting to see how Shaka does in the Big 12 and if he can be the guy to finally dethrone Kansas at the top of the conference at least occasionally. From a fit standpoint, I wonder how successful Shaka will be in getting elite recruits to buy in to the type of defense we gets his teams to play. You not only have to expend a lot of energy on the defensive end in games, but really condition hard pre season to be in the type of shape to play that style. I am sure their will be some 5 star kids who like the idea of playing for Shaka, but not the reality.

I refuse to believe this until the news is confirmed by Richmond Insider. Until then it's nothing but rumor and innuendo.

"Hello Shaka. This is Norwood Teague, your former boss.". ...

"How about we start a home-and-home series next December in Minneapolis? My head coach says he wants one of those vs. a major program, and your new school certainly fits the description."
