SH to the Gopher's? Just may be!

I've seen SH play a couple of times. He moves well for someone 6'8" and over 300lbs but does not look like a Big Ten player. I didn't see much verticle ability(no dunks) and his offense was mainly put back layups. I don't claim to be a great talent evaluator and would allow him on my team if he enjoyed himself but I would be surprised if he developed very far.

Bryant Allen was Mr. Basketball in Missouri (correct me if I'm wrong), and he could definitely be a part of the basketball program. He has been at the last few games sitting behind the bench. He is one of the best shooters on the "team", and he is a quick ball player. I don't think he will ever make an impact beyond being a good role player at the end of the season.

However, this role fits perfectly for guys like Henderson and Allen. They are both guys who their number 1 sport is football, but they are solid enough basketball players to add depth and contribute at the end of the Big 10 season. I personally, think that Henderson needs to choose the school that makes the most sense for him on the gridiron, but it's his choice and i'm a Gopher fan, so I hope basketball persuades him to stay home.

FYI: To the guy who said he is, or knows a CDH insider, I know a lot of people really close to the program, and I've heard the same exact things. It's USC but Tubby and Bball are really having him consider the Gophers. I've also heard that his dad really got along with Brewster. But we'll see....

Actually, I think Iowa is too.

With how things are going in Iowa City with the hoops program, I am confident that he would be welcomed on the basketball team. They are likely looking for any warm body they can get. Really bad start for a good coach.

The feel I get from GH interview with SH and his parents is that they are all being polite toward the Gophers and have nothing drastically against the program but that USC is already his choice. Unfortunately, it seems like, many top level athletes receive so much national attention they get a skewed picture of what it means to pick their non-famous local University. In their interview they mention that he can get so much more world wide recognition at USC. The kid already is recognized as the top recruit in the nation how much more recognition does he want. How much is it worth to have hundreds of friends, extended family and just greatful locals compliment him on the great game they saw him play at TCF Stadium. If he wants more recognition, why doesn't he stay here and earn it by playing basketball for the Gophers and make a winning shot in the last second while he is laying on his back. Sounds similar to another Minnesota kid that, for awhile, was more famous than SH could ever dream of being. It is hard to put a price tag on the love and attention of family and friends but at Ohio State or USC there are 100,000 fans that couldn't care less about him as a person and if he goes down and can't contribute they will say something like "now what was the name of that kid who used to play for us but got hurt" There are times it makes perfect sense to go out of state but being famous is probably not one of them and there are better reasons to stay in state than playing basketball and football.

WRONG AGAIN, BECAUSE ALLEN WILL BE IN ARIZONA WHEN THE BIG TEN SEASON STARTS SMART GUY.

My goodness, you are dense. What is he supposed to do, leave the football team in the middle of the season? Say to his teammates, "I'm going to leave the football team, where I'm actually a contributor, to go sit on the end of the bench for the basketball team and rarely/never play"?

Engage your brain before firing up the ol' keyboard.

Who are you calling dense dopadoll68? I believe most of the participants on this board are not cognitively impaired and can recognize sarcastic humor to get a point across. However to help you understand be aware that I do not really want SH to lay on his back and make a last minute winning shot in basketball for the gophers to be famous. I want him to consider the fleeting value of fame verses the feeling of having loved ones and life-time friends around to cheer him on as he plays for the gopher football team. After awhile you may catch on to this concept dopadoll68 and then you can start working on your rude bully behavior on this board.

What the hell are you even talking about?

A. I wasn't talking to you. Note the poster in the above quote.

B. I wasn't talking about Seantrel either. Again, READ THE ABOVE QUOTE.

You can go ahead and direct your misguided anger elsewhere. Thanks in advance!

What are you talking about? He was referring to Brew_Recruits message, not anything you said. And there was nothing sarcastic about that guys post. He is just being ignorant to get a point across. Of course the kid is gonna concentrate on football now, and not start basketball until it is over. And Brew_Recruit is starting to be known on this board as a troll. Sheesh, get a grip man.

Actually, I think Iowa is too.

Wasn't aware of this but to be honest, I'm not worried about Iowa stealing him away. If he stays in the B10 it will be @ OSU who is not offering two sports.
