Seth Davis: Tad Boyle being rumored to be in play for Minnesota Job.

I'd be shocked if he leaves CU. I was going to post last night that I like him as a candidate (was going to throw out him and Amaker), but then read his "this is my dream job quote" and thought no way he would leave there. My wife's aunt and uncle, and cousins, are all season ticket holders for CU hoops and LOVE him; supposedly, everybody in Colorado does.

Again, I'd be shocked it they were able to get him. At this point, one thing's for sure - he's going to get a raise!

CU is paying him peanuts. Definitely would get a sizable pay bump.

Well, you would probably go for a coach by the name of Jack Mehoff?

A name means nothing. After all, for God knows how many years the Vikings had a coach by the name of Harry Peter Grant.

I'd go for a Mike Hunt before a Jack Mehoff.

Great! I'm sure Tyus has been waiting for this name for months...

Good point and looking at his resume he's probably not enough of an a-hole to leave his State school for a lateral move to Minnesota.

I'd argue this is a better job. Better conference, better money but not enough he'd leave Colorado.

Why would he leave the Pac-12 for a meat grinder like the B1G? Unless Teague hires someone like a Calipari or Pitino, the Gophers will always be relegated to the mid-bottom tier of the conference due to the lack of facilities...and crappy weather doesn't help either. At least in Pac-12, there's a reasonable shot at winning the conference outright. Unless the U attracts 5 star athletes year end and year out, it'll be hard to compete with OSU, MSU, and Indiana.

"Even if the Gophers lose in the first round, Teague is NOT firing Tubby."

They are going broke and have horrible facilities. Could give us a leg up.
This is simply not true.

1. We just opened a new practice facility in August 2011 that is top notch. Some pictures are shown below.

On top of that, new scoreboards were installed, a new court, CU has one of the largest recruiting budgets in the nation, among others. CU is in a great position in the basketball world right now.

2. The Pac 12 Networks TV deal kicks in this year for CU. Our AD did go through some tough money constraints for a couple of years (partially explains the Embree hire which was a colossal failure). Each Pac 12 school will:
However, the Pac-12's full ownership of national and regional networks that have lined up substantial distribution before their scheduled launch in August, indicates that the conference is on track to generate at least $30 million a school per year over the 12-year term of agreements with ESPN and Fox that begin later this year ($4.3 billion total). Only the money from ESPN and Fox — about $21 million a school per year — is guaranteed, though. And because of the networks' start-up costs the actual per-school revenue the first few years is likely to be well below the projected annual average.

USA Today

As it stands right now, that is the largest conference TV deal in the country although the SEC will likely overtake that.

3. CU announced a $170M facilities upgrade (mostly for a IPF, Folsom Field seating expansion by closing in the North endzone, and a Dal Ward expansion) but the Coors Event Center is also going to be receiving some renovations from it.
CU's Board of Regents were just as interested in the new master plan for the Coors Events Center -- improvements that are not included in the $170 million proposal --which would include expanding the concourse with increased fan amenities and adding more premium seat opportunities.

BuffZone

CU basketball was profitable for the second straight year (first time that has happened) and we finished second in the Pac 12 in attendance (10367, 93.7%) behind Arizona (14131, 97.2%) and from the 2011-2012 season to this past season, season ticket sales increased 69%. CU next year will also be heavy favorites in the Pac 12 along with Arizona and opened up at 20/1 odds to win the national title (just behind Arizona at 15/1). Good luck in your coaching search but Tad Boyle is not going to be leaving Colorado unless the Kansas job opens up and that is not going to happen for a while. This is his dream job and money is not a factor to Boyle. He already turned down aTm, Nebraska, and one other school that I can't remember that offered him $2M+. On top of that, to get into coaching he left a six figure salary as a stockbroker to take a coaching position at the University of Oregon that paid $16,000/year.

Some rando on twitter posted that Gophers signed Tad. Highly doubtful but thought I should point it out ITT.

He does actually seem gettable if Minnesota throws enough money at him.

Read the final couple sentences from my post above. Boyle has also turned down a raise (multiple) from CU itself and multiple $2M contracts at other schools. If Tad did care about money then he'd likely be gone and not turning down more money when it was offered to him from our AD. The only job 98% of CU fans are afraid of him taking is the KU one.

Mile High Sports is usually full of good articles but that one is pretty off base.
