Please follow the link to read Nadine Babu's interview with Seantrel Henderson, as he gets to the point and comments on a few of the schools he's visited, and comments on his in-home visit with Tim Brewster:

The nation's #1 - Seantrel Henderson lists the pros and cons of his visits so far

In case you missed yesterday's article, Nadine was able to interview Seantrel's parents, Bree Jasper and Sean Henderson on Seantrel's recruitment:

Seantrel Henderson's recruitment, through the eyes of his parents

Seantrel should listen to his pop's assessment of Minnesota's record- we may be 6-6 but that is without Seantrel Henderson. I've said it before and I'll say it again: with Seantrel Henderson, we would have won 2 more games this year at least, if not more. With Seantrel on one end and Gjere on the other, we could get the GopherHole all-stars out there to play skill positions and still be competitive.

EDIT- thought I'd add that I cannot remember following the recruiting of a player with more maturity and more decent, involved, intelligent guidance from his parents. This kid is not a primadonna and has the chance to have his name hanging on a banner in one or more places in Bierman and TCF Bank stadium for decades of future Minnesota kids thinking about going to the U. We will be so unbelievably fortunate to land this guy if that's what he decides.

Okay, lets just dream for a minute here:

In two years, for example, among our potential starters on offense: Brandon Green, James Green, Marquise Gray, Seantrel Henderson, Jimmy Gjere, and Hasan Lipscomb - all four star (or better, in the case of Seantrel), and only one senior out of the bunch. I realize there are questions regarding Lipscomb (a) will he be here, b) will he be the same player he was before his injury), but again, we're dreaming, okay?

That would be some serious talent and athleticism on offense, and that's not even considering other guys such as Hawkins or Marquise Hill (whose you tube video is awesome), assuming they stay committed as well.

Again, an X-factor here is Seantrel...

Seantrel, we're not as far away as the last few games of this year may have made it appear! Also, think of our defense - Kirksey and Edwards will be seniors, Hageman will be an absolute beast, and if KGM is on the other side, that is a SERIOUS D-Line front in terms of height, size, and athleticism. You're going to be going against solid competition every day in practice.

Linebacker will be amongst our deepest positions with speed and athleticism across the board. D-back is the one position we are currently lacking depth, but it is being addressed in this year's class, and by then Michael Carter will still only be a junior.

We're not that far off! You, Seantrel, could be the difference!

IDK, seems you're a hero here if your a part of the reason we get to eight wins. Seems like you're a zero at USC if you can't get them to an NC or conference championship. I understand the bigger stage aspect but there's also something to be said for making a difference. You finish second in the Pac 10 at 9-3, you haven't done a damn thing. Do that here you change the future of gopher football forever maybe.

we'll I hope he makes the right choice. If he came to MN that would help things so much though i mean really it would mean the world to this program. I could see his name in the bank 20 years from now. :)

We talk of the glory he'd have here, and how he might get lost in a place like USC. But there is a reason. And that is the difference that he'd make. It's very real here. When he's done here and moved on to the NFL, he'd have accomplished something real and meaningful here. something like that cannot be taken away nor forgotten. When you consider what he can recieve from the choice maybe we're not the best choice (not that we're not), but when you consider what he can personally accomplish, what difference he can make, Minnesota is the only real option. I guess it'll come down to his personality if he's a giver or taker in this world.

I'm not sure you can tell somebody that he would get lost at USC, but he would be so good here that his legacy would never be forgotten. He is probably good enough to be a difference maker at USC (maybe not in year 1, but at some point) so saying that he is a taker because he might not go here is pretty dramatic, and a little harsh.

When you've watched Seantrel play for CDH the last three years, three Championship games and one Championship. It would be nice to see him stay home to continue to appreciate his athleticism.

I hope I can someday say I watched Seantrel play football on Fridays for the Raiders, Saturdays for the Gophers and who knows maybe even Sundays for the Vikings.

I know my kids enjoy watching him play. He could become legendary...not only because he's a great athlete but first he is a great person.

It sure sounds like USC and if it's not USC maybe one of the Florida schools. I sure hope Seantrel ends up a Gopher.

There's a point in the history of some program's where they have an opportunity to rise to elite status. It takes several things to have more than fleeting success in college football. It takes a combination of elite facilities, great recruiting, the right coaching staff, and a location that can attract recruits. With the advent of The Bank The University of Minnesota has all of these things. Seantrel, you could be a legend here if you help make this program a fixture on New Year's Day. If you help propel the Gophers to the Rose Bowl, you will be cast in granite on the steps of The Bank.

Let me offer up a few negatives on USC based on my visit there several years ago -

1) It is built right, and I mean right, on the edge of Watts. Complete with bars on all windows and doors, and a hooker on every corner. (hmmm ... maybe that is not a negative ... depends what kind of 'education' you're after.)
2) The campus was strikingly non-descript. At least the parts of it that I walked thru.
3) The Coliseum is antiquated, fans are miles away from the action, and for many games there is a sea of empty seats.

They seem like a great family that is making a decision and have not decided yet. Iowa, seems much less likely than I thought:) I really do think we got a shot. At least through my maroon/gold glasses it looks to me that we do.

All I want for Christmas is the number 1 recruit in the nation.

Pete,
I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment, but i would venture a guess that a good number of guys on our current roster, former and current recruits, guys from other programs, as well as any average high school seniors who have nothing to do with athletics have gotten great advice and support from their parents regarding their college choice. You just dont hear about it because the Hendersons are in such a fishbowl. I really do commend them for handling it so well.

My letter to Santa will only list one wish--the wish of S. Henderson at the U of M.

"God Bless Us, Every One!" Tiny Tim.

He seems like a really mature and thoughtful young man. His parents come off as very positive people who have raised him well. I hope he stays home so his family can watch him play. However, if he decides to go to USC or ND I can't blame him for that. It seems like he has given Brewster and the U of M a fair shot in the process. I will cheer for him no matter where he goes, except when USC plays the Gophers!

A credit to Nadine for landing these interviews ... she deserves props ... not easy gets.

The kid is a total a lock for USC.

Nice interview though, thanks.

I forgot to thank Nadine for the nice work on the interviews!

+1

I really am positive that this kid will live up to expectations and being a total Gopher rube, I would love to see him stay home. However, if he and his parents think his best chance to really develop into the best possible player is at another school, you can't blame him for leaving. This is this kids life, he is sitting on a winning lottery ticket, and he does need to do what's best for him.

I think USC is very close to a lock. He has never taken an official visit and not seen USC play (Notre Dame vs. USC, Ohio St. vs USC, and then a USC game), he will get to practice against 5 star defensive players everyday in practice, gets to play on a bigger stage for a coach with job security, and he won't have the unrealistic expectations of having the entire program on his shoulders.

PS...great interview!

Unless you are Pete Carroll, you might want to put "imo" next to your guess.

I assume people are smart enough to figure out that an obvious opinion is an opinion without me noting it every single time.

It's not just a guess though, read the interview. He didn't have anything negative to say about USC; it was clearly the visit he enjoyed most. Throw in all the stuff Bob Loblaw just said, and it's pretty obvious which direction he's leaning.

Good point. He's already a hero in MN, but he's got the opportunity to become a MN Legend. He's a great athlete and a fine human being no matter where he goes, but I'd sure love to see him stick around and help us turn the corner. It's exciting to think about what he could do for the Minnesota Football program.
