I disagree regarding the characterization of my posts but certainly agree on the issue of being an asset
... . While I've questioned the motives behind a poster's contributions or the lack of intelligent thought expressed within the post (as in this case), I don't recall often calling the poster's overall intelligence into question.
The problem that I see with some of our newer posters is the lack of any significant thought or judgement and a rush to making fairly outlandish suggestions. Allen as a starter? Kid's just recently suited up and played a whopping minute or two -- truly a bizarre suggestion IMO. (And golly, I pass right by a fair number of other truly bizarre posts without comment.)
I do take issue with those who call for firing Maturi because of the handling of the White and Mbakwe cases. And in taking issue, I often believe those folks are placing the short-term above other interests. But I don't recall calling their intelligence into question for expressing that opinion ... just their values. And I've pointed out that a trial court judge has found probable cause and the prosecution has decided to go forward with the charges. That's not to say Mbakwe is guilty but it validates the decision to keep him suspended from the team until the case is resolved -- regardless of whether the Gophers are winning or losing.
One exception: Millions2Spare has shown a stunning lack of coherence and communication skills. How much of it is an act versus true ignorance is hard to say but I've pretty much concluded on the latter.
