Came here to post this. Woof.
His worst comp is with Middle Tennessee -- though we feature as one of his two wins against teams with a winning record.Other teams mentioned are Duke, Syracuse, Indiana.
Teams that have real issues with talent and etc.
And then there's Nebraska...
Yup.Wow, those are some brutal numbers. Lurking on Husker boards one common comment that gets made is along the lines of "if his name was Scott (insert name) and played at (insert school), would there even be a discussion about whether he should be fired or not at this point?"
With a buyout at $20,416,667 I don't see it happening this year. Plus with a new AD it might be nice for Scott to sandbag some more losses, a la Ryan Saunders, before you make a move to the guy you really want.Wow, those are some brutal numbers. Honestly at this point the close losses are the biggest indictment of Frost. So often his teams look good on the field and hang with really good teams until they find some way to end up losing. Bad penalties, mental mistakes, turnovers.....the list goes on and on.Scott Frost's Cornhuskers seem to annually be the most hyped bad team out there. The amount of times I hear that they are better than their record is getting ridiculous as the results repeat themselves year after year. At some point your record is what it is. If his teams were good at football, they would win more football games.
Really speaks to the culture piece. I know you can't look into the future and determine what sort of idiotic mistakes kids will make but I think Scott is overlooking character and HOW in many of his recruits.Honestly at this point the close losses are the biggest indictment of Frost. In the first few years a coach can chalk those losses up to the transition and not having his guys. But by year 4 you have to start looking more at the coach because at this point the players should be mostly his guys and the mistakes are still happening.
They are bringing in good talent on paper but it isn't coming together on the field for one reason or another. I will always advocate for a coach to get at least 4 years to prove what they can do, but if Nebraska goes in the tank for the rest of the season it is going to be a tough sell to bring Frost back for year 5. Having said that, my gut feeling is that he will be back for one more year in Lincoln with massive expectations on him to turn things around in a big way or be sent packing.
I would. He had some really good offenses at UCF and Oregon, and he recruited Justin Herbert to Oregon when nobody else in the FBS was interested in him.If Frost is fired, does PJ consider him for an OC position upgrade?
Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
Gonna go out on a limb that Frost and Fleck may struggle to get along personality wise so probably not going to happen.I would. He had some really good offenses at UCF and Oregon, and he recruited Justin Herbert to Oregon when nobody else in the FBS was interested in him.
Adrian Martinez is the only QB who has not improved much with him around.
Might be a good fit. I hear Frost doesn't believe in sloganeering, so PJ won't need to worry about Scott stepping on his toes in that department.Gonna go out on a limb that Frost and Fleck may struggle to get along personality wise so probably not going to happen.
I
maybe he’ll go to Bama for the fired head coaches rehab run by NickIf Frost is fired, does PJ consider him for an OC position upgrade?

Worlds best agent! With a buyout at $20,416,667 I don't see it happening this year. Plus with a new AD it might be nice for Scott to sandbag some more losses, a la Ryan Saunders, before you make a move to the guy you really want.
I would rather Fleck hire the best coaches rather than hire his buddies as coordinators. Not saying Frost is the answer or that it would ever happen, but I hope PJ would consider qualified candidates who he's not BFFs with.Gonna go out on a limb that Frost and Fleck may struggle to get along personality wise so probably not going to happen.
Nick has an elite finishing school.maybe he’ll go to Bama for the fired head coaches rehab run by Nick
Tim Brewster was also 15-25 in his first 40 games.
That actually was a little surprising considering it seems like they have been somewhat better of late. Let's hope we have a winning record in the conference this year and his trend continues as part of that. How about how tom Allen has never beaten a team that finished with a winning conference record. Didn’t expect that.
I agree to an extent, but you can't bring in a guy (frost aside) that you don't like, you don't want dysfunctional staff.I would rather Fleck hire the best coaches rather than hire his buddies as coordinators. At least Brew's teams made a couple bowl games.Tim Brewster was also 15-25 in his first 40 games.
McCaffrey improved?I would. He had some really good offenses at UCF and Oregon, and he recruited Justin Herbert to Oregon when nobody else in the FBS was interested in him.

Maybe that's how Joe Salem somehow lasted 5 years at Minnesota (1979-83). I can't really offer any insight there since my Gopher memories don't go back that far. I do know he was the head coach for that infamous game against Nebraska in 83. I guess it took something like that to finally get him fired.Wow, those are some brutal numbers.
