I am not downplaying the seriousness of the situation here, but why does it always seem that just when Gopher football or men's basketball just starts to get good and interesting, some sort of scandal arises and tears everything apart?
In the 1990's the basketball team made a final four and looked like they were on the verge of taking another step forward as a program, then they shoot themselves in the foot by cheating academically. The administration was right to burn everything to the ground in that case.
Now as the football team looks like they could be on the verge of taking a step forward especially with intriguing talent like Antoine Winfield Jr and others, now this situation arises. Perhaps I'm being pessimistic here, but I could see this situation being a negative turning point. I would not blame any of the 10 if they said, screw you Minnesota, I'm outta here.
