Say something positive about the Kill hire thread

Here's a positive: MarQueis Gray in Kill's system, I like that look for the next two years.

The problem with this hire isn't Kill, he will probably do just fine maybe even better than any of us can imagine. The problem is we were told the U was going to shoot for the stars and in the mind of 95% of the fans and 100% of the already anti-gopher media in this town, all we got was the roof of the garage. Sort of reminds me of watching Goldy shoot t-shirts into the crowd. You are expecting to see the shirt go into the second deck and the gun fizzles and goes to the second row. The t-shirt is just as good but the delivery was terrible.

The real tragedy is that Kill is going to be hammered from the get go and all he did is sign a 5 yr contract to move up to the Big Ten.

Although this tweet tells us maybe he won't let the media push him around.
@HuskieWire: Kill was told that people might want to hear from him. Kill's response: "I'm not talking to you."

Thank you Jerry Kill!!!!

#1. He was willing to take a job that very few coaches would have gambled on.

#2. We dont have to see anyone from this board coaching the team. I was almost scared they would have to go that low to get someone for this job.

#3. We are going to see some great headlines. "Gophers Kill another" or "Gopher D Kills Hawkeyes" better yet Jerry Kill's Badger

#4. We have heard of Jerry Kill.

#5. He knows how to coach. He might not be a sexy pick but he has had results. This program needs a guy who can get results with less. If he can do that he will get more to work with.

This is a guy who beat cancer, beat us, and beat Purdue with recruiting classes in the bottom 15% in all of college football.

If he finds a way to get middle of the pack talent to Minnesota, we're going to be just fine.

If the team in place gives him a chance--- we'll go bowling next year and in Gray's second year in the system, I would not put a New Year's Day bowl out of reach.

I hope you all sell your season tickets so I can be closer to the field when I finally see my beloved Gophers knock off one of the teams that has kicked us around for the past 5-15 years.

He beat two teams with winning records! Oh Jeff Horton did also!

As promised. I start the glass of kool-aid a day again. Oh how I missed drinking it all in.

Let the haters hate, Coach Kill. I fully expect to enjoy watching our team grow into your system.

Kill is a proven winner.

I don't think this is nearly as bad as many of the overreactionists think.

The fault for the anger lies directly with Maturi who stupidly gave fans visions of a big name savior rolling into town without knowing it could happen.

Time will tell how this plays out, but Kill's resume is different than the other coaches we have hired in the past.
Best post I've read so far today.

He's the last FB coach to be hired by Maturi

EXACTLY!

You guys don't know quite yet how good of a hire this is for your football program ... but you will.

There is no "Wow!" factor here but two, three, four years from now this board will be singing the praises of Jerry Kill. He will be a great ambassador for the University of Minnesota. His players will run through walls for him. His teams routinely are among the best in the nation academically.

You have to give him a couple of years, though. He's a builder, not a quick-fix artist.

I had the good fortune of watching Kill build a program first-hand and it was quite impressive. I expect the Gophers to be competing for the Big Ten title down the road.

If Looks Could KILL!

The more I think about this hire, the more I like it. We got substance. Yeah, he has got a Dean Blais homely-looking vibe to him, but if he can coach like Blais, look out!
