Nobody wastes an offer (and with my daughters heading to college this year, I found out it isn't just in athletics) on someone who is in the lukewarm category.

Wrong. It's not like these guys are signing next Wednesday. They have 7.5 months until they put pen to paper. I'm sure every guy the Gophers signed in 2009 was falling all over themselves with interest in Minnesota as of June 30, 2008.

If you only recruit guys who are lining up with giddy anticipation in hopes of signing with you, you will not recruit as well as you could*. Period.

*Does not apply to USC, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, et al
