From the article:

"LOOKING AHEAD

Sura is getting college interest from the Gophers, St. Thomas, St. John's, North Dakota and St. Cloud State. "It's crazy; I never expected this to happen," Sura said. "To have colleges calling me is a pretty cool feeling."

Sura said he has spoken with Gophers coach Jerry Kill and is impressed with Minnesota's first-year leader.

"He was a very nice person to talk with, and you get the feeling he really cares," he said.

Sexauer said the college that Sura chooses is getting a "gold mine" of a player and person.

"He'll be one of those kids who goes on a campus and those coaches are going to fall in love with him for his work ethic, his drive and his attitude," Sexauer said. "They'll find out when he's a redshirt freshman or sophomore, that they can't keep him off the field for all the great things he does."

Go Gophers!!

Is Sura big enough to walk on and become a linebacker or something?

What's the recruiting rap on this kid?

Personally, I think he could redshirt a year, sit on the bench for another two and be ready to contribute as a junior for a number of mid-tier programs. The kid can obviously play football and he's athletic to boot. Seems like a smart kid who understands the value of hard work, an overachiever. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I'm guessing Kill's interest would be as a preferred walk-on. He doesn't have the size for LB, probably not the athleticism for DB, he's a RB. Seems like the kind of guy you'd want in the program.

I've seen SSP play a handful of games and you can't watch them and not like Sam Sura. He is just the toughest/hardest worker on the field. I do think 185 is a tad generous with him, I think he's 180 maybe 175, but that's just a hunch. He is faster than he seems though. SSP's offense is like a Georgia Tech type of offense and Sura kind of plays a RB role that looks like a FB, so I think it's a little deceptive. He did most of his work up the middle, but he has good speed and he can catch a pass.

I don't think he has the speed to play Division 1 DB, but he is such a smart runner and SO tough, I would love for Sam Sura to go to the U and walk on as a RB. I'm not 100% sure he has the physical tools for the Big 10, but if he could get himself to 205, I think he'd be really tough. I even think at 205ish, on some formations, he is tough and strong enough to play some H-Back type of role.

Either way...congrats Sam and I hope you consider walking on, St. Thomas and St. Johns will always be there if it doesn't work out here. If it does work out here, you'll be playing in the Big 10.
