Does anybody know of the chances of us getting Sam Maresh back after next year? He should be matured both mentally and physically. Having a new coach would kind of give him fresh start. He has gone through a lot, much of it self induced, but sometimes those who overcome problems come out the other side even better than those who didn't. Looks like he had a good season. It would be a good story to get him back here in two years if has matured by then. What are your thoughts?

Last I heard he was spotted with Walker Ashley, Hasan Lipscomb and Royce White.

Physically yes, mentally maybe

My gut says Sam Maresh ends up in the d1aa ranks or out of football entirely.

Is Kill and staff interested?

I talked to his dad recently. He had an excellent season at the Iowa community college.
(Did not inquire about credit make up/grades, etc).

His dad wondered if Kill would contact him regarding another opportunity with the Gophers?
Sounds like Sam/dad would welcome that opportunity. If that does not pan out, then he would like to look at another D1 school.

If Sam & his Dad are interested in getting Sam another shot with the Gophers, then the resonsibilty lies with him & his Dad to contact Coach Kill, if nothing else just to gauge if there is any interest. It would be up to Sam to convince the new coaching staff that he merited another look; after all, it was Sam's poor decision making that led him to where he is currently.

Just the vibe I get because of there being pretty much zero rumblings about Sam coming back to MN, if he wants to be a Gopher his best bet might be to walk on and prove that he is ready to be part of the time. That might not be super appealing to Sam Maresh and his family, but I think it's the bed he made.

That said, I would be open to the Gophers giving him another look. He is a talented kid and if he has really "figured it out", he would certainly be a nice addition to this team.

Sam Maresh was handed the keys to kingdom. That only happens once.

On top of that, the D-Side of the ball is filling up nicely. I don't think coach Kill has the time to take on this project.

from what I gathered, I think that pretty well sums it up.

I agree. People are given 2nd chances in life, but they aren't handed out. He will have to prove he is serious, and then I'm sure he will be given an opportunity if he shows progress.
