With these a number of good prospects on the D-Line coming in it got me wondering whatever happened to that kid that got limited playtime but when he did he got a sack. Sorry ... I am always terrible at remembering names.

It was something like 4 plays and 3 sacks. Plus I think he caused fumbles on them. He was a bit skinny. I always thought they would put meat on his bones and he would be a beast. It seems like he disappeared. Did he leave when Fleck came?
 


A lighter, quicker DE can get some occasional sacks on a speed rush by catching the OT off-balance. But, he's generally too light to hold up against the run or take the beating of battling a 300-lb lineman on a regular basis.

It's fine to maybe have one pass-running specialist like that on a roster, but as a general rule of thumb, I'd rather have guys who can play more snaps and hold the edge on running plays.

And if you try to 'bulk up' the lighter DE, he may lose the speed or quickness that gave him an advantage.

That's why I would love to see Coughlin moved back to OLB, and get a DE with more heft.

I don't recall seeing him play much this year. Wonder if he is in the mix next year.
