Rutgers

Yeah....people get overly hung up on individual talent and often assume that is a guarantee of team success even when proven over and over again that just having great players doesn't guarantee anything.

Harper and Bailey are great individual talents and I am sure that just having them on the floor won some game for Rutgers because they are so talented. But it takes more than just a couple talented players to be a great team which is why Duke was competing for a championship while Rutgers was sitting at home watching.
In the old days of real college basketball, Rutgers would have been set up to roll next year. With the two cornerstone pieces they would have added a few extra guys and everyone would have learned the system and they would win big. In 74-75- the Gophers had Thompson, Ray Williams, Lockhart, Winey and others but had a poor season. Then the next year (which, as usual is erased from the books) we went 27-3 and could have won a natty. It takes teamwork.

You're not wrong but I'm just pointed out that his ceiling is so high that a 18 points and 8 rebounds for a 6'10" FR is considered "meh" production.

He doesn't really feel like a Morey guy though.
He was just measured at 6-7 and change barefoot. He may have been close to 6-9 in shoes. It was one of the surprises of the NBA combine, that he wasn't anywhere near 6-10. I think he is dropping from pick 2-3.

Good info. Yeah, his stock could drop.

I remember back in the day before Givony was hired by ESPN, he used to run his own website and they'd post the actual heights of players and it was crazy how some folks "rounded up".

We are talking basketball. 5 players play at a time. If Duke has five of the top 59 draftable players in the upcoming draft and Rutgers has two...then it stands to reason the answer is they are not comparable situations.

Jimmy Butler's scoring is down vs the Timberwolves. A major reason for that is that much of the defensive focus can be on stopping Butler. If Curry is out there it frees up Butler to score more.

5 elite players on one team achieving success are not comparable to only two on another team.
Read what I said. I agreed on your other points, I just took exception with the freshmen inexperience part. And using your rationale Duke just having more inexperienced freshmen wouldnt be a plus just more inexperience.

I was arguing that Bailey and Harpers inexperience wasn’t their primary factor in losing. And you countered by saying I was wrong because Duke had a better supporting cast. Yes I agreed with that part.

If you disagree with me that bananas taste better than apples, thats fine. But don’t make your argument based on that apples last longer than bananas and then declare yourself right.

Always the rational aggressor.

Ya, thank you. I understand what you are saying now and I can agree with that. It makes sense to me. I didn't grasp your distinction originally. Thanks for explaining it to me. (Thumbs uo emoji)
