Rutgers announces that no fans will be allowed in the stadium for 2020 home games

Couple good entries already in the jokes about the lack of impact this decision is going to have on the state of attendance at Rutgers Football Games.

On a more serious note, starting to see a lot more of these declarations being made for pro and college venues. Assuming the games end up happening, it is going to be very odd to see them played without fans or with super limited attendance but if it means they are able to get the games played then so be it.

36K average in 2019. Us? My guess is that we were just a tad above that.

Just did the math - almost exactly 30,000 average for home games. If you take out the 1st game, they averaged 28,000.
You’re talking tickets sold, not attendance right?

I did a quick google.

It said it was less than that but I read one article and it was about a game being the smallest in 10 years and involved us pounding them.... good enough.

Yeah, there had to be less than an actual 15,000 in the stands when we played them

Will be weird playing games without fans. Players not getting much playing time will have to step up and cheer louder during the games.

The sports editorial cartoon would show a "down" 12th Man being circled by covid buzzards.

Of course the concept of "12th Man" and Rutgers is a non-starter, but the vision may apply elsewhere too.

As a person with several co-morbid factors hoping to be in TCF for games this fall, I've always considered covid to be a buzzard sitting in a tree watching me...hoping...

Now Rutgers has given me the vehicle to express it...

BTW, obviously the buzzard is still in the tree waiting...
