Rumored that Matt Rhule to Lincoln

What kind of contract would he get in Lincoln? Could he get $8-10mil/year with a buyout in excess of $25mil? So if he’s hired and completely flames out within 3 years, he could conceivably make $95ish mil over the course of about 4 years for being a total failure at two locations? ($40 mil from the Panthers + 3years @$10/year + $25 buyout). God bless America!

If you don’t think Rhule is a good hire, who do you fools think would be a better hire?

Who is going to be better?
Not iowa
Not wisconsin
Can’t name Purdue
Can’t name Illinois
Can’t name northwestern

So it’s him or Athan. I’d take him in the short term
Not sure if you’re been paying attention but there is a lot of transfers in and out lately

It’s okay to think that he is both the best they could’ve done and not a sure fire success.

Ruhle did very well at Temple but Temple was in a conference that is far less competitive than the BIG is.
He was at Baylor when sexual assault scandals had decimated the team and they improved under Ruhle.
He crashed and burned in the NFL.
Compared to Frost just about anyone would be an improvement.
There is no substitute for experimentation so time will tell how he does at NE.

Solid hire but unknowable how he’ll do. Have to think most Nebraska fans grade this as “satisfactory” and promising but not quite Frost hire-level in terms of hysteria.

If he gets them back to 8-9 wins, and with wins in the Quadrangle games (it must burn extra deep for Neb fans to consistently lose to PJ Fleck .... just like Fleck loses to Iowa every year) .... that is a huge step.

Then we'll really see where Nebraska's ceiling as a program is. If the 90's are dead and buried and in the new reality Neb can really do no better than Wisc/Iowa?

Temple has been a stepping stone for coaches for awhile now. Geoff Collins replaced Rhule, then jumped to Georgia Tech and has been fired. Addazio jumped from Temple to Boston College and was fired. Al Golden went from Temple to Miami and was fired.

Rhule also didn't inherit a 'decimated team' at Baylor.

I’d be willing to bet he gets Nebraska back to a 7-9 win team consistently in 2-3 years

I think he could get them bowl eligible but not much beyond that

Of the last three baylor coaches. Rhule is the only one to not win a conference title

Funny thing is that Nebraska would be happy to get it back to the level Fleck has gotten the Gophers. 1 top ten finish, in and out of the to 25 in other years and competitive in most/all game. Not sure if they could take losing to Iowa every year, live PJ does, but everything else they would be content with. I do think Rhule will give them a chance to get back to being respectable B1G is going to be so tough. MN needs to continue to commit to the program to make it a top school

If they could just buy a natty, they'd have done it.

Hey, all these years later ... Tennessee is finally relevant again. The Nebraska of the SEC. It can happen!
