I have a subscription to rotowire. Mario Puig pre-combine mock draft has Maxx Williams selected 12th overall:

12. Cleveland Browns – Maxx Williams*, TE, Minnesota (6-4, 250)

From The Site: "I'm apparently a bigger Williams fan than most, as I would easily take him over Eric Ebron, who went 10th overall last year. Williams should test very well at the Combine and was dominant at a young age while playing for Minnesota. (This pick assumes the Browns let Jordan Cameron walk)."

I hope he goes to a team with a better QB situation... But top half of first round makes me happy!

My thought exactly. If he goes high in the draft, it would be nice to see him in an offense on the cusp of breaking out. I don't see that with the Browns.

I would hope he is lucky and goes later to a team with a QB. Cleveland is a train wreck and will always be a train wreck.
If the Packers don't take him they are nuts. Their TEs were terrible in the championships game.

How terrible was the Packers TE in that NFC championship game? Richard Rodgers was 4-35 8.8 ypc with 5 targets..He helped the offense rush for over a 100 yards(135) against a defense that was 3rd vs the rush giving up about 80 yards a game. What do you want the ROOKIE to do?

Is "us" the Vikings?

If so, we have way more pressing needs in Round 2 than a TE.

You must not have been there when we drafted Toby Gerhart in the second round... even though we had a guy named Peterson.

Not the Browns! His career will be over before it starts.

I can see him going to Seattle late in the first round,
or Atlanta early in the second round.

Both would be good landing spots with established QBs.
Packers probably first team to draft a TE and would likely
be Nick O'leary..

I heard Kiper discussing the draft on ESPN radio the other night and he mentioned Maxx and Cobb with glowing descriptions.
This from Rotoworld

NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes Minnesota redshirt sophomore TE Maxx Williams has the "straight-line wheels to beat linebackers and safeties."

"Accelerates to top speed quickly on crossers and speed outs," Zierlein wrote. "Speed to chew up cushion and open a throwing window over the top. Will threaten seam and dominated defenders on wheel routes. Red-zone winner. Can do damage after the catch and shows playmaking aptitude with tight end screens. Extends and goes all out for the catch. Got a foot inbounds on three circus catches." The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Williams is Mel Kiper's No. 1 TE, and colleague Todd McShay's No. 20 overall prospect. McShay believes Williams "bears some similarities to Greg Olsen." Williams has also been compared to Jason Witten and Kyle Rudolph.

Seattle, New England, Green Bay, or Indy would be nice landing places for Maxx. If we didn't have Kyle Rudolph, would be a nice fit here. I just realized those nice landing places all have great QB's, no surprise I suppose.
