Could someone with more insite than myself explain why these 3 players aren't being recruited by the Gophers? I have watched most of the in-state D-1A players that Minnesota has verbals from and I don't understand why Jirik isn't being offered a ship to Minnesota. I hear Frazier could get a last-minute offer and with his dad staying in town for another year, Corey could change his mind if offered. I don't think Rock has touched his potential and with his size and hands could really be a great addition at either WR or DB. Thanks for any comments.

I think we still have a shot at Rock, but we will have to wait and see until next week. Frazier is committed to Rice right now, but maybe the Gophers can change his mind.

Fritz Rock had an offer from the U but it was pulled a long time ago when he declined to commit. The Gophers did recruit Corey Frazier but apparently for 2010, not 2009 (a grayshirt offer). Frazier declined and committed to Rice. Don't know about Jirik.

From what I've heard DI teams are afraid that Jirik doesn't have the frame to put on the weight for DE. The Gophers offered him a spot as a preferred walk-on.

Jirik

Watching Jirik play in both games against Mankato West, I don't believe he is a D1 type player. That is just my opinion though.

Rocks story is too long to get into and not worth the time, we moved on a long time ago, Jirik is pretty simple, they like Matt Garin better, Frazier I think will end up a Gopher.

hope so johnny. i do hope that we can get rock though

Cole Jirik was offered a scholarhip at

NDSU and Western Michigan and he accepted NDSU. Rivals has Jirik and Garin with same height and weight and from what I have seen in videos I don't think their frame differs. Nonetheless, NDSU is happy to have Jirik, Taylor Nelson and Levon Perry from the great state of MN as our DE recruits in addition to Justin Juckem from WI.
