per the Post Bulletin:

P-B: How does this new position, which was a promotion, match your skill set?

Sherels: With my experience as a player for the U, I feel like I am in a unique position to let our recruits know exactly what the U has to offer. I also have experience coaching so I feel I have an understanding of what our coaches are looking for in a recruit.

P-B: You had offers from other college football programs to work more in a coaching capacity than a recruiting one. As a guy whose ultimate goal has been to be a full-time on-the-field coach, what kept you at Minnesota?

Sherels: I still feel a sense of duty to the U and especially coach (jerry) Kill and coach (Tracy) Claeys for giving me an opportunity. I also feel like I have a lot more to learn from this staff. Lastly, the team is rapidly improving and I want to be there when we finally return to national prominence.

Go Gophers!!

I loved that interview. Sherels expresses himself well and really projects a love and loyalty for the U.

I hope his career goes exactly the way he wants it to.

Yes, and thanks for all the sharing you do, BleedGopher!
