Road Game Tickets on Sale Monday

There definitely was "this is going to be a long year" thoughts that night for sure. But I will say, in Toledo's defense, that they were a really good team. I'm convinced they would have been no worse than top-3 in the Big Ten that season and may have even won the conference. That was a poor year for the Big Ten (which is astounding in that just one year later, 2002 was a great year for the Big Ten). We both saw the champ, Illinois. That Toledo team could have beaten Illinois.

I suppose it was just a coincidence for the time; I was a year out from the U, was single, and was making more money. The longest drives were the Toledo & Michigan games. I don't even think I took Friday's off for the IL & NW games, and if I did, I worked until at least 1. Now, 2000, driving to Columbus and then right back to Bloomington a few days later was a bit tougher.

I was in school full-time and working 20 hours a week when I went to all the games in 2001. I'm still not sure how I passed my classes that semester... or how I could afford all that travel.

Got 4 tickets for Nebraska, as well!! Looks like there will be a good-sized group from the GopherHole board heading to Lincoln. We'll need to get a Friday night dinner lined up. I'm hoping it's a day game, mid-Novemeber could be chilly, plus, I'd like to drive home after the game Saturday early evening. Now I need to get three friends to commit to this trip.

No worries - the B1G doesn't do night games past October.

I'm heading down with 9.

I also grew up in Lincoln and actually worked at the Embassy Suites mentioned previously. They have a tendency to quadruple their rates on Husker game days (as do many hotels in Lincoln), so I wouldn't set your heart on it unless your pay grade is WELL above average.

So many Lincoln people on this board, lol. Guess college football is truly in our blood.

I actually found the Embassy Suites' rates to be competitive with most downtown Big Ten college town hotels on football Saturdays. I forget exactly what I booked my room for but it was definitely cheaper than what I'm paying for the Hotel Vetro in Iowa City.

The Holiday Inn was looking for a lot more, and that's a worse hotel...location is a wash. I constantly have issues with that Holiday Inn so I avoid it.

The Cornhusker recently lost their affiliation as a Marriott franchise, I couldn't even find their official website anymore but all of the aggregate hotel websites had them completely booked 365 days before kickoff, which is odd. I've booked a lot of Big Ten road games and never seen that.

On the bright side, starting this June a bunch of Omaha cab companies are allowed to operate in Lincoln. I would assume they'll flood the city even more on game day so the cab situation in Lincoln (which is the WORST of any city I've been to) should be a lot better.

Hotels in Madison this year were significantly cheaper than usual, did anyone else notice this? I actually triple checked the date when I booked it just to make sure.

For the people that are doing UNLV, what was the cost of the ticket? I'm thinking about scalping and moving to the gopher section if it saves a lot of money or gives me better seats. Any thoughts or experiences?

Tickets through the U of M ticket office are $40

More good info since I'm booking on points. I hadn't realized that they just lost their Marriott affiliation. Thanks NateDawg!

Does anybody know if there are still Nebraska game tix still available? I have my 4, but we've found a couple more friends who may want to go, as well. So, I may need to track down another friend who has season tickets and have him buy a couple for us. Thanks!

FYI, looks like we are going to stay in Omaha Friday and Saturday night and drive over to Lincoln Saturday morning. Anybody else thinking of doing this?

There are still tickets available from the Gopher ticket office.

We will be doing the same and staying at the Holiday Inn Express in SW Omaha

I would recommend leaving early because I-80 can be a parking lot between Lincoln and Omaha on gameday. If staying in Omaha, I would recommend the Old Market area, tons of fun bars and restaurants there.

There are no certainties is this world, but I would bet the house that you will be able to beat $40.

Got 4 for Nebraska late last night. Will be staying with Husker family in Omaha who know their way around.

Probably going to be a quick road trip...leave Friday midday and back to Cities on Sunday AM.

Already excited though...

Good advice.

My bro drove through the Lincoln/I80 area on gameday years ago coming back from an elk hunt in Colorado. He said the state patrol stopped traffic and escorted two lanes in intervals at 55mph. Not sure if they do that anymore.

Any word on extra home game tickets going on sale. Hopefully season ticket holders get a shoot at them before they go on sale to the public. I need 4 extra for the Michigan game. Friends will be here from out of town and want to catch there first game at TCF.
