Dwayne Mitchell from 5.2 to 5.4
Willie Tatum from 5.4 to 5.5
Josh Tauefa from nothing to 5.6 and 75th ranked DT in nation.

I would point out, as well, that Rivals has demoted Beau Allen from a 5.6 to a 5.5. He was already lowly ranked considering his offer list, but now they have removed him from the ranked DT's altogether. At the same time, they have put Josh Tauefa in at the #75 (out of 75) ranked DT's.

To me, this Allen situation means Rivals is taking more of an aggressive posture toward rankings. It seems in years past they have relied on the assessment of top schools such as OSU and ND to gauge where to rank guys (see Willie Mobley and Bryce McNeal being ranked WAY above their skillset.) The fact they are taking a guy like Allen with new ND and Michigan offers and DEMOTING him means they are willing to stand by their own assessment and are through playing it safe.

I can support that.

I think the thing on Mitchell is that no one had film on him. I thought I read something to that effect.

Seems odd that there would be no film of Mitchell, he is a rather well known high school football player in Louisiana as I understand it. Then again, structural issues may still not be up to snuff in that region of the country.

How many stars is Veazie projected to be? and why is it taking Rivals so long to assign him a star rating?

Nonzence. CFB down there is like walleye up here. They devote the latest technology to the game. I remember being (this year) in a hotel in Jackson and discussing recruiting with an 18-year-old bellman who knew more about it then I could ever hope to, and I devote 100 hours a week of my time on the subject.

Fair q, because I have been following it too. He will likely be a 2 star because of his offers and lack of film, but the lack of film also says he can't be rated. He committed to our major DI program in mid-June so who knows?

My guess? 5.3.

I was speaking of Hurricane Katrina, I'm aware that football is big in the South.

Remember how so many hated the Tauefa commit and hoped he would decommit, get dropped, said how bad he sucked on film, or were just generally VERY disparaging of him? Don't sweat Veazie either. No coach has them all turn out, but we are getting better talent than our history is worthy of recruiting. It's great when all the pieces fall in place immediately, but CF seldom works that way and when they seem that way they generally fall apart as fast as they came together.

Did Brewster rescind the scholarship offer to Allen because Rivals dropped him to a 5.5?

If a player is a 5.6 do you really think they have a better chance to succeed as a college player then if they are a 5.5?

Odds are in their favor.

You spend 100 hours a week on college recruiting? I'm curious. Is that your fulltime job? If so, what service? Offer us some insight here.

Veazie is playing for a pretty significant football school in TX and is starting, isnt he? I would expect his rating to be lower not because of his offer list but because of his video, but if so, oh well.

On Mitchell and supposed lack of film. The ESPN site has him ranked as a 40 and in the explanation it says they have yet to receive film. There is video of him on Rivals, but I don't know how long it's been there and whether the ranking changed after the highlights were posted.

Rivals shmivals . . . I am upgrading all of our recruits to 5 star players!

#1 class in the nation heading to Minnesota boys and girls.

BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!

I think our guys get bumped up has to do with the good relationship Lemming has with Brewster. It worked opposite when Mason was here.

Fail

Wrong...we have almost just as many guys get bumped down (Alipate, Gjere) as up. I highly doubt what you said has anything to do with it; unless all of our guys were getting bumped up, which is obviously not the case.

Do you think the Lemmings ever scold their kids for following the crowd by saying, "If everyone jumped off a cliff would you too?" With a straight face??
