David Lander, 'Squiggy' on 'Laverne & Shirley,' dies at 73


LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor David L. Lander, who played the character of Squiggy on the popular ABC comedy “Laverne & Shirley,” has died after a decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis, his wife said. He was 73.

I recall a late night talk host (I cannot recall who it was) said this during the Olympics, when the Russians had a lot more medals than we did, "How can we ever beat the Russians, when Laverne and Shirley is the #1 show on TV".

Michael McKean and David Lander also showed up in a great little comedy called "Used Cars" starring Kurt Russell as a shady used-car dealer. Their scene involved hacking a satellite signal to insert an ad for the used-car dealership into a Presidential address.

A really funny movie, as I remember it.
