Didn't see this posted anywhere else but all 3 of them were at the game. I saw them go down into the locker room after the game and Gorgui went down there at halftime as well presumably to meet up with Richard. Would have been nice for them to come to a game with some big time recruits but still pretty cool. Also would have been nice to see them come to a game with a better atmosphere so they can truly experience the barn and leave more impressed but i thought oh well, they are timberwolves, there used to playing in a half empty arena all the time.:D

I know I've seen Rubio at another game, I think it was last season, couldn't tell you which game though.

LOL @ the last part and ain't that the truth. Both Ricky and Dieng have been to games before. Ricky I know went to the Michigan St. game last year when we were in the Top 10 and Dieng has gone to a couple I believe earlier in the season as well as the Pitino tip off or whatever that was called before the season.

I see Hoffarber and Abu-Shamala at virtually every game. Aside from the obvious Ben Johnson (for you smart asses) can anyone recall any other ex-Gophers being at least semi-regulars?

I've seen Andre Ingram quite a bit...saw him again today.

Nolan was at the game on Sunday. Not sure if he is a regular though.

Nolan goes a lot, and Damion Johnson has been to at least one game this year.

Those two have both made comments about how they would have loved to play for Richard Pitino because of his style.

They would have fit perfectly. Would be nice if Rodney had redshirted and was a senior this year. He'd fit really well in the press too.

That is exactly what I said. I know former Gopher players respected what Tubby Smith has accomplished in his coaching career, but really didn't like him as a coach do to his stubborn, cut you down ways. I think the former players like that Richard has reached out to them even tho they have graduated, and never played for him. He is young and plays a fun style of basketball, that they wish they could have been a part of.

Thought this was great:

I hope I don't derail this thread by asking this question, but in this Tyler Mason guys bio it states he's a Gopher Football/Basketball writer for FsNorth AND he makes sure to state that he's a proud graduate of UW-Madison....I mean WTF? Does the University of Minnesota really not graduate anyone who wants to cover the Gophers ? We've got an Iowa grad in Gaard and a Wisconsin grad in Mason.

And, a Providence grad in Pitino and a North Carolina grad in Teague and a Southwestern grad in Kill and a Notre Dame grad in Lucia and so on down the line.

What is it with everyone's obsession with this? Does everyone who works in Minnesota have to be from our state or graduate from the U?

Gaard and Mason both have jobs to do and quite frankly do them quite well.

Gaard is a Minnesota grad. He transferred from Iowa after his sophomore year.

Not only that, but if you listen to him during his regular radio gig, he's either really playing the part or he's turning into a complete Gopher homer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Did you guy overhear the chatter by the commentators talking about Austin wanting to transfer after his sophomore year.... "His family helped him through it" and he's now happy he stayed.

Players did not enjoy Tubby time, they respected him, but they did not enjoy it.

It appears some did not, but I would sure love to see a quote that shows me Dre H. is enjoying Richard time. He just does not look right out there. I see him get chewed out plenty, but he is definitely not alone in that regard.

I don't want to make this Tubby v Pitino, and that wasn't my purpose. I probably used the wrong term in "players did not enjoy Tubby time". I should have said "some players did not enjoy playing for Tubby, evidenced by the number of transfers he incurred."

No need to compare Pitino to Tubby.

I think it's safe to say a lot of guys consider transferring after their freshman/sophomore year(s). Just looking at how many guys leave every year is ridiculous. You can blame tubby but I think it's more of the generation than a coach. These kids know what they are getting into...

I never see Sam Jacobson at any games, or at any of the alumni celebrations. He still lives in Minnesota, right?

No I didn't overhear the commentators, I was told by a former Gopher player.
