I read in today's Denver Post, can't find a link on the Post website, that Rick Upchurch has leukemia. Very sad and my thoughts and prayers are with him. He was one of favorite Gophers to watch as a kid.

He announced the Denver selection at the draft. And first he wanted thank the Denver Bronco's support and his home town of Holland, Michigan. I found it odd no mention of anyone from Minnesota. I would hope some one from the U would reach out to Rick and offer the support of the Gophers.

That may be something Mona should bring up to coach during their Sun show.
How can the Gophers support one of their own, and what game are we bringing him back home?

The wording is horrible, but you get the gist.

My first favorite player. Was there when he scored on OSU at the Mem. God love you, Rick.

Yep, great NFL career. Was another Cal Stoll recruit. " Ricky don't lose that number"

I thought he was from Ohio.
Great, great juco player with a lot of flash.

Born in Toledo, Ohio and went to High School in Holland, Ohio per wiki.

Best running back I ever saw at the U. I think the U has reached out to him several times to no avail. I am not sure why he doesn't acknowledge the U but it seems as if he doesn't.

Saw him play at Indian Hills CC in Southern IA. Amazing, he was a man among boys... It was fun to watch his Gopher career. Best of luck to him.

My error, he simply mentioned Holland. I assumed Michigan.

Very exciting player. Sorry to hear of his illness and agree the U should find a way to honor his accomplishments while playing here.

Me too. He was the first Gopher player I idolized and imitated as a kid. He was the only reason I liked the Denver Broncos long before anyone recognized them as a legitimate NFL team. It saddens me to hear this news and hope the best for him and his family!
