Rick Pitino's contract extended through 2025-26 season

Can't see him lasting that long. Would be very surprised if he's coaching Louisville 10 years from now.

Rick Pitino has an ego as big as city of Louisville. When the right time comes, he'll make a jump to NBA. He has to prove that he can do it in that level too.

I don't know either

But having the support and a great relationship with your boss makes it fun...so they might make it and retire together. How many games they win, how competitive they are will play a large part I'd think.

I just glanced at the thread title, and thought it said "Rich" Pitino. Damn near had a stroke.

I suppose it's possible he might fulfill the contract. Larry Brown will be 75 this year, I think. Ray Meyer went till 70. Boeheim is 70. Pitino looks in good health. (I do call bull$hit on the compliment from the A.D. being worth 100 million dollars though. He's good with the words.)

Great - now Richard will never get an opportunity to take the job that he wasn't going to get anyway!

Why's that? Richard would be 43 years old when the old man's new contract expires. If that's when daddy steps away, and if Richard has built something stable here (or somewhere else), then the kid would be an absolute prime candidate there. Moreso in ten years than if Rick retired in a year or two.
