No idea why he feels the need to insert himself in this conversation, pat himself on the back a few times, etc. What a weird video:

Go Gophers!!

If Pitino was the AD or something at Kentucky this would maybe make some sense.

But a former coach, one who hasn't coached there is almost 30 years, and is currently the head coach somewhere else, instructing the current fanbase on how to react to the return of a coach who just left is really odd.

I don't even know in what context it would come up to ask Pitino to record something like this. Very strange.

Fanatic. Look up the definition. I don’t know why people think they will be heard by fanatics. Sports is a release and entertainment.

#1 Rick Pitino is a sensitive guy when it comes to the coaching profession. He backs coaches and hopes coaches will back him. Like he said...he was hurt by the reception he received when he returned to Kentucky as the Louisville coach...he was hurt they didn't still love him.
#2. He doesn't want John Calapari to experience the same thing and not be appreciated in KY and he knows Calapari is hurting already because Arkansas is underperforming.
#3 And Pitino appreciated the contrast welcome he received when invited back to KY this summer.

I have no problem with the video.

lol....love him or hate him there is no doubt Richard Pitino has a really good sense of humor.
Did anyone "hate" Richard? We were disappointed in him, but he was a good guy.

Same with Ben, but with an added dose of bitterness at the administration for hiring him when we all saw this outcome coming from day one.

The only Gopher coach I can say I actually disliked as a person is Brewster. He was a fraud and a blowhard. And maybe Brenda Frese.

Or did you mean Marlene Stollings?

What I hate is the Gopher BB program losing for 24 years. The head coaches didn't hire themselves but the athletic directors and the administration hired/fired/allocated funds for the coaches. In the tradition of "the buck stops here" the AD and school administrators are responsible. They are the ones responsible for the tradition of losing not the coaches. The coaches have changed enough times that I'd think luck would come into play in hiring a successful coach since 1998, unfortunately luck wasn't in the cards for the BB gophers.
