Richard Pitino on how he’s spending his offseason...

“You have to make sure that you don’t neglect your team; your current players in the classroom and on the court. Whether it’s rehab or working on skill development, you do that first and foremost and then recruiting. Recruiting never stops. We had a couple scholarships to fill. Without getting into specifics, we have done a little bit of that and continue to work there. And then work the young kids. There used to be a little time off, but that window is getting smaller and smaller. But that’s OK, I like being busy. We are making some in-roads with a lot of guys. I think the new facility is really helping, especially with local kids. They are coming in there now and are blown away.”

Breakdown: Within the last two weeks, Pitino has received commitments from a pair of four-year transfers in Payton Willis and Marcus Carr. Willis is a 6-foot-4, 182-pound guard who averaged 5.1 points in 18.5 minutes per game as a sophomore last season for Vanderbilt. Carr played his freshman season at Pittsburgh and averaged 10 points and four assists per game. He and Willis won’t be eligible to play until the 2019-20 season.
