Rewatching the Rutgers game

Thanks. I saw the mismatch right away. The receiver was not a burner just wondering why it took so long for coaches to make switch. 9 out of 10 not good at all.
Bryan, got beat 9 out 10 passes so they replaced him with Gerald after Rutgers went up 14-0.

Everybody talking about poor tackling and yes that was an issue but a lot of it had to do with the package we were in. On 3rd and long we went to a dime package to play the pass which left holes in the defense. Yes, we missed tackling but mostly because of the position the player's was in based off the dime package. So basically, Collins took the lesser of 2 evils (so he thought), by preventing long passes but left holes for them to run the ball.
Seems to me that he made the correct decision given how the game turned out after the horrible first quarter.

The biggest weakness on the Gophers D is linebacker play. They need to pick it up in a hurry.

The Gopher D Line got called early on for defensive holding (Eastern?). That might have opened up the LBs to being blocked afterward...at least that's what was running through my head. I think the Gophs have effectively used that tactic going back to when Rossi took over.

Good point. I just re-watched the beginning of the game and the Gophs were showing 6-man fronts and maybe stunting an extra or two off that. Easy to get gashed by the run if tackles aren't made in space.

Was really nice to see them adjust.

PJ mentioned the adjustments in his press conference (offense and defense adjusted)

Defense went from not getting to AK to getting to him / smothering him.

There were some fronts where only one DT was in there. When ever that happened, KC/AC switched to a run. No matter how many yards was needed to gain.
