Reusse: Jon Najarian has intriguing candidate to be Gophers' next AD

I wonder who Reusse is on this board...I made some points on why Najarian would be a good hire. I even sent a tweet to Najarian letting him know he was getting some commentary for the AD position, one day later Patrick comes out with an article on him..

You mean the O.P. article on this thread. The one that he wrote back on August 14 ? ;)

Ha! Touche!

Has Kim stayed in the area or is he starting his career elsewhere?

Go Gophers!!

Young fella bleeds maroon and gold and Minnesota....I don't see him ever leaving Minnesota.

Works in a school district, coaching football and just completed his Principle Licensure.

Good to hear he's doing well. I hope he continues to have success.

I think Pete would probably do really well as AD. He's become a rich man with his investment business ventures. I gotta think this means he would be a natural for drumming up money. I also gotta think that the Najarian name would make him very popular in the Gopher Nation too.

I'm kinda skeptical how business guy translates into successful AD.

It sounds like this guy successfully worked in a world where he was the ultimate boss, called his own shots, decided how he would do things and the context.

AD, it's all internal politics, crazy boosters, the insanity of a large university, and the NCAA...

Maybe he would be good but these seem like very different challenges.

My thought also.

Some people seem to portray the AD job as a hand-shaker with no stress.

Again, the chances of anyone other than Beth Goetz getting this job are slim. Especially if it's not a guy who came from another school and helped turn football into a major success.

If the University hires a guy who played here 30 years ago and has not been involved in athletics administration since then over an interim female that's in the office during a Title IX investigation and after a sexual harassment scandal the media and legislature will melt down. Unless she is caught up in one of the scandals or doesn't want the job, it's almost certainly hers. Right or wrong.

Duly noted. I doubt hardly anyone on the board has a very good handle on the full array of responsibilities (not many anyway) associated with the job.

HOWEVER, I do think some people are just plain successful in whatever they decide to do. You can plug them into just about anything and they will come out smelling like a rose. Pete could very well be like that, I would have no idea.
