With a hat tip to @Some guy, who compiled these numbers in another post.....how many more wins does Pat think would meet his standards? Where should the Gophers be?

Everyone ahead of Minnesota has more money, more fan support, and better tradition. At least 3-4 teams behind Minnesota have more money, more fan support, better tradition, more fertile home recruiting territory, etc.

Could the Gophers have won a few more in PJ's time? Of course. But, they have also punched above their weight.

For those who claim "but PJ had the Big Ten West." Well, so did Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. How did that work for them in this time frame?

I'm not suggesting PJ Fleck is the greatest coach in the history of football, but he's done a pretty good job at Minnesota, relatively speaking.

Just think if Pat worked in East Lansing or Westwood or Lincoln. Holy cow would he be livid.

And unlike the Gophers, the Twins DO have billionaire owners who  choose to be cheap uninspiring asshats.

If the Twins left, I seriously wouldn't care, and I used to follow them religiously.

Yes Pat we’d all love to beat the best teams in the country. Your “standards” haven’t been met in 60 years, so some of us have swallowed reality and lowered them instead of being miserable every year.

But what happened 60 years ago to change Gopher fortunes?

Pat’s writings are pretty terrible, the dude dials it in 99 out of 100 times. He should just keep looking for some human interest high school athlete stories and long for years past. I have shaken my head so many times with his articles I always walk away in disbelief that this guy writes for anything other than town of 50,000 residents. And when it comes to standards, he should do a full self assessment. This was my dialed down version.

It's sad, really. I loved listening to games on the radio while driving or working outside. Lots of great Saturday and Sunday afternoon memories. Now I'm not sure I could name 5 players on the team. After finally winning a playoff series and being primed to make a run, Dipshiticus "right sized" the organization. Dweebs in suits living off daddy's money. They can eff off.
