Reports of OL Kahlee Tafai Signing

You’re right – – neither could’ve played for Us?

I don't know, is Bryce fast enough to play at this level? There's a reason he's in the FCS and it took him 4 years to play.

Trey's only good season was 2019, the same season Tanner Morgan was great for us. I would take Tanner over Lance during that season any day.

This is impressive as hell. I didn't even consider him despite loving his ability because all reports had the big Dawgs locked in on him. What an absolute steal, and a seriously impressive feat by the staff to get him.

That offensive line is looking pretty good at tackle and center now. Probably three guys starting next year at those positions who will play on Sundays.

Impressive portal offers!

Tafai has received offers from Minnesota, Alabama (visited), UCLA (visited), Michigan State, North Carolina, Nebraska, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, San Diego State, Cal, and Kansas.
Surprising decision...how did we beat out Alabama? USC and UCLA have location advantages.
Turned down NC Belichick and Ruhle and Nebraska. Playoff teams ASU and Boise St. Sheesh.
Impressive sales closing...do we have any money left?

Huge pickup! I’m going to go out on a limb and predict a better run blocking group next year. Let’s see if the new RB from Marshall can maintain his 8.3ypc!
Dang! Would that be cool!! Paired with Taylor we might never lose if he could wiggle his way to 8.3ypc as a Gopher! Fun to consider, if even briefly. :)

UCLA is a dumpster fire. USC isn’t much better. Alabama is returning both starting OT (both SO). As far as the others, they are similar programs and we have a clearer path to PT.

Even in pay for play era, immediate playing time is a significant carrot in the recruiting process.

A push or perhaps a gain. Similar level of experience and time to play. Only an OL coach watching film could really evaluate.

Tafai seemed to have broader high-level interest, while Daniels was an Ohio guy with interest only from Ohio State that we know of.
To be fair I don't think Daniels was in the portal long enough to Garner interest. Or he knew where he was going and shut everyone else down. I'm still surprised OSU thinks so highly of him, definitely thought they could do better

I think there's a good chance Daniels was willing to transfer to Ohio State and only Ohio State.

For him it's a homecoming, and he probably dreamed of playing for OSU as a kid but fell a little short of an offer out of high school. He probably was on their radar, at their camps, and built relationships with their coaches in high school, even without an offer.

I don't think they drove a dump truck of money up to him. We'll see if he starts or if he's looking to transfer back to somewhere like Minnesota in a year or two. He'll have a good chance...starting games on a quality Big Ten team as a true frosh is predictive. Most guys who have done that at Minnesota have ended up in the NFL.

Love what Fleck is doing in the portal.
Maybe a LB and a CB to round it out?

Daniels is a redshirt freshman, but getting playing time at that age is still a nice predictor.
