Reports of OL Kahlee Tafai Signing

Wow that would be a big (literally) signing. Started 4 games at LT and has 3 years of eligibility left. Apparently had an Alabama offer from his former HC, DeBoer. Had offers from Oregon, USC, Washington, etc out of HS. PJ (and DTA) have crushed the portal the last couple years.

Impressive portal offers!

Tafai has received offers from Minnesota, Alabama (visited), UCLA (visited), Michigan State, North Carolina, Nebraska, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Boise State, San Diego State, Cal, and Kansas.

Sounds like a good substitution for Daniels. A push?
A push or perhaps a gain. Similar level of experience and time to play. Only an OL coach watching film could really evaluate.

Tafai seemed to have broader high-level interest, while Daniels was an Ohio guy with interest only from Ohio State that we know of.

Incredibly encouraging. PJ and staff have become one of the best portal recruiters in the country.
I thought this might play to Fleck’s strengths, as some players want an authentic team focused program and he stands as a beacon for that vs. the Glitz/Glam of today’s Instagram Society.

I think Fleck's just a good salesman who's good at getting guys to sign and not keep endlessly deciding between programs. He's a closer. We see this from how the Gophers often build numbers fast in both high school and transfer recruiting.

I think if the Gophers had more glitz and glam and buzz (and money), Fleck would be even better at recruiting. Glitz and glam are not incompatible with team play and hard work.

To clarify, it’s not a negative - it’s a positive.

Authentic is attractive, especially when so many things in life for teenagers/young adults aren’t. The culture piece is meaningful and resonates not only with with the players, but the parents.

I went to the OSU game in his first year and spent time in Portland doing a bit of business prior to the weekend, ran into a Wolverine, who rolled his eyes when the topic of Fleck came up; I explained about the tragedy of losing his kid and how that was the genesis of Fleck’s philosophy and it wasn’t a “schtick”, to honor his kid’s memory and use it for good, so it didn’t rip him apart.

Fleck is an “excellent salesman”in my perspective, because what he’s selling is something authentic/he believes in. There’s an old adage in sales, “If I believe, they believe.”

Working 30 years in sales, the bolded has been my experience; its much easier to sell a product you believe in, then one you don’t.

Having also watched my mother bury my older brother at 35, my perspective is shaped by that experience and my CV; of course, yours may/likely differ.

Still playing today, his 3rd TD for the day was one minute ago and it's beautiful. One year left. On ABC 4 min. left
I can’t imagine the Lance family has much love for the U considering we didn’t offer either of the kids out of high school.

Lol – – we clearly missed on both of them and they’re right here in our backyard so who gives a shit what Iowa or Wisconsin did.

Clearly missed? Lol they're playing in the FCS. Trey had one good season at the B level and the 49ers stupidly drafted him high. He's done mostly nothing over his career and currently can't beat out Cooper Rush.

This is Bryce's 4th year at NDSU and the first year he has done anything.

You’re right – – neither could’ve played for Us?

They may well have developed exponentially to become the player they are now and weren’t legit P5 prospects out of HS.

How much did can an 18 to 21/22 change physically with a trading table/good coaching/working out all the time?
