I’d like Wright to make an impact more often than every 4-5 games before I get excited about him.

I've never questioned his effort. Consistency, fair game...effort, not so much.
Game changer type is at QB. Makes all receivers better.

Happens all the time. Always forget about the guys developing. If Hayes doesn't make an immediate impact, a year from now people will be excited for the next WR recruit and forget about Hayes.
I'd would argue over the last two years, when we actually decide to throw to him, he has the highest positive outcome percentage in that room meaning catch or PI drawn. He just hasn't been thrown to that often.
If we land Chartlotte WR transfer Elijah Spencer who is on an OV right now and no one else transfers out, or at least the major contributors, that would give us the best WR room in the West and outside of OSU, one of the best in the entire conference.
He doesn’t get thrown to because he doesn’t get separation and doesn’t always give full effort on his routes. Even many of his great catches often seem to be contested. Yes he has the talent to make those highlight reel, jump ball catches, but the thing that made TJ and Bateman great is they ran great routes and seemed to be wide open all the time. Wright isn’t getting overlooked due to scheme or favoritism, he has had plenty of opportunity to prove himself.
I don’t know how anyone couldn’t be skeptical. It’s not enough for these guys to flash talent every few games or so, we need consistent, reliable pass catchers, and most of these guys have not reached that level. Can they? Sure, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

He wasn’t that good before that point either. In fact he’s definitely been better since that point.
Agreed, some recency bias makes me hopeful, but a lot of games of no separation and etc for a lot stretch of games means I wouldn’t bet on many of these guys consistency wise.
