Reasons for Chris Peterson to Leave Boise

Has Petersen ever been here? I probably would have to take a peek at the facilities at the new job before committing. But then again, if you are going to double/triple my pay, I'd probably shovel horse poop in 110 degree heat every day without looking at the shovel first...

That is a very valid point, but to that I ask has Edsall ever been here? He may be taking the job soon. Of all the candidates I think kill and Calhoun were the only two that have played a game at TCF.

Perhaps Petersen hasn't been here, is coming tomorrow, if he likes it, he signs and the press conference takes place Monday.

But we don't have blue turf!

Absolutely no talk about this on any BSU boards.... that I can find anyway.

You mean, absolutely no talk on any BSU boards. The ones I checked earlier were completely dead.

i got this weird feeling its gonna be CP...somehow maturi got tubby here and I think he's gonna pull another rabbit out of his hat

Can anyone tell me when it was first stated, in reference to the candiddate pool, that there was a candidate that "we were surprised was interested"? And was that before of after Nevada beat Boise?

I thought it was before they lost to Nevada.

It was on 11/6, http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/106739778.html and they lost to Nevada on the 26th. As much as I don't want to get my hopes up about a hire like this, signs seem to be pointing to CP as our next coach. If Maturi was able to pull this off, I would be flabbergasted.

Problem is...on 11/6, why would Chris Petersen have been entertaining thought about leaving Boise State. At that time, they were #3 or #4 in the BCS; Auburn still had to face Alabama (@ Alabama) and South Carolina on a neutral field and didn't know if Cam Newton would be playing in either/neither/both of those games; Oregon had upcoming dates with Oregon State, Cal (IIRC), and I'm not sure who else; and Boise had 3-4 Friday night games upcoming (one including a ranked opponent), leaving them to make headway in the BCS standings with a real shot at the National Title Game...all while at BOISE, thus bustng the BCS cartel! I just can't see why, with life as we know it to be on 11/6, he would have expressed interest in leaving. If he was contacted 11/27 or after I can see why he would listen, but back then I don't see why he would have had interest. Can anyone enlighten me? Unless I am missing something (and anyone who knows me knows that I hope I am), I don't see it.

I don't think the timeline disqualifies Petersen at all. Assuming he's the guy Maturi was talking about, who knows what would make him interested back then. Keeping his options open is a lot different than accepting the job. That decision wouldnt have to made until later, likely after the loss. It's also just as possible that Maturi was talking about someone else and that Petersen, if it's him, could have fallen into his lap late in the game.

I remain hopeful that he is indeed the guy...

Why? Peterson has finally seen the light. He sees the bufoonery of not only the WAC and MWC. BSU is moving into a conference that is now losing TCU, Utah, and BYU. They are committed to a STEP DOWN. Let's get this straight: at conference of BSU, San Diego St., Air Force, Colorado St., UNLV, New Mexico, Wyoming, Fresno, Hawaii and Nevada is a step up? Rediculous.

Idiocy by the conferences and BSU's ADMINISTRATION. They could have held out for the Big 12.

He needs to move to a BCS school. The BCS will eventually bust the lesser conferences. The Big East might even be left in the cold. BSU is going nowhere, fast.
